Nobody is nervous because the turnout was very poor.  Not only that, these demonstrations totally alienated all minorities as is evident by the racist signs and allusions surrounding Barack Obama and the plethora of minutemen "patriots" and all around nutjobs. 

This is a failed strategy to win any kind of National Election.  If this is the face of the Republican party and its ideals, then you will NEVER win anything in decades as long as this type of ambiance is allowed to exist. That is a fact.

I find it disturbing that the response of some of the pro-big gov left wingers had such aggressive and demeaning responses to a reasonable protest of big gov/big spending policies.  It is very 'American' (as far as history goes) to challenge a government that is too powerful, spends too much and has a non-sustainable debt/GDP ratio.

I find it disturbing that the response of some of the pro-big gov left wingers had such aggressive and demeaning responses to a reasonable protest of big gov/big spending policies.  It is very 'America' (as far as history goes) to challenge a government that is too powerful, spends too much and has a non-sustainable debt/GDP ratio.

Not all were peaceful.. For instance, the Secret Service had to bring out their bomb robot in front of the White House for one.  Police had to break up a few others here and there.  Attendance for the most part was so low, there was no potential for anything.

If you were to do a fractional proportion of those who attended the tax parties divided by the entire voting population,  you would then get a figure so low that it would not even register on a graph.  Thus the turnout was statistically insignificant.

Keep in mind also, that many there were also children who cannot even vote and then the number sinks even lower.

Many people were there for different reasons.  

What you dont understand is that for every person out there, there are many multiples who wish they could go but have jobs and families to support.

Agreed, it was a small turnout compared to the voting populations.  

Still, I see nothing wrong with a peaceful protest urging the gov to stop its big spending ways.  To me, this is not a repub vs dem issue.  It is a big-gov vs limited gov issue.  You'll have idiots in any protest, activists, fringe people but if the protests rallied around opposing big gov, spending practices in the last several yrs and new taxation that we are just starting to see (what may be the tip of the iceberg to come in the next 2-4 yrs), I think that is a just cause.

As the gov continues to spend and taxes continue to rise (taxes other than federal income tax which has not risen and hopefully doesn't), we will see more people join groups like this and it is healthy feedback for the gov.

Its utter nonsense.  Its a credit that you are taxed on that ends in two years.  The overall rates were not reduced one percent.
