Would you have awarded slaves anything?  Just curious.

If they were alive at the time, I dont know from a legal point of view since slavery was legal.  However, you simply cant expect slaves to get freed and be anything but disfunctional people without a lot of help thereafter.

Legal doesn't mean much.

Hitler passed laws which meant that everything he did was legal.

The rest of the world sure didn't see it that way, of course.

Well from a legal standpoint, the Iranian hostages were already compensated and the Algerian Accords which was the agreement that Iran and the United States agreed upon, prevented additional lawsuits.

I don`t understand the "outrage" here since the United States government is powerless to further represent the Hostages.  There is nothing more they can do by law.

If we break the Algiers Accord, The United States government also opens itself up to paying out lawsuits to Iran.

The slaves were offered reparations.
40 acres and mule or being sent back to Liberia.

Some states went against the government act and in the end it was mostly revoked.

Most slaves couldn't read and had no where to sell their crops.

But you make it sound like nothing happened.

You are always comparing this that aren't related.

Uh, after Lincoln was assassinated, Johnson rescinded the 400,000 acres of land back to its original "owners".

Keep in mind that only temporarily benefited about 18,000 of about 4 million.  Johnson took the land away from them so it was no real benefit whatsoever.
