Is the torture debate a distraction?  Maybe, maybe not.  Obama did get the ball rolling again.  Puts all the righties in defense mode instead of attack mode on something else.  So maybe.

But no question, most of the crap that comes out is a distraction.  If they're going to always distract us, somebody tell them to upgrade the distraction to something worthy of being distracted by.

it makes the repubs look like shit.

there is a small chance pelosi will have egg on her face, which only gives obama more leadership power with congress.

all the while, you have cheney whining and attacking in the press - reeking of desperation - trying to defend his legacy and keep his name out of prosecution talks.



All in all, obama is playing this one well, politically.  Ask 100 americans which party is all about torture, see what their answer is...
