How does one determine if a gun is worth the price or even differing values of them?

I do understand Historical pieces, for instance the gun that killed Alexander Hamilton or once belonging to Al Capone and I do understand the ornamental pieces that are fashioned to be works of art.

I do not understand how values are determined on your run of the mill guns.

Quality...ease of routinue maintenance etc. Some companies are better then others. S@W stands behind their products for life.

I have never fired the Beneli but these guys are running almost $75 under most places I've seen. I picked my last pistol up yesterday for $15 over cost. This shotgun has the pistol grip and looks beautiful. I want a Les Baer .45 with all the extra's.

He's got a bow and a .22 as well as a shotgun. All for hunting and nothing like a Remington 700. I think he wants the ghillie suit.

I will....I prefer the pistol grip as I am a rifle guy and need the control. Some shotgun purists don't like it. I want it for home defense only.
