Steve Denison - why did you give white lights on this squat?
« on: April 29, 2009, 12:34:53 AM »
This is from the USPF rulebook:

Upon receiving the Chief Referee’s signal, the lifter must bend the knees and
lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is lower than the top
of the knees
.

According to the rules its a bit high (an inch?). I would count that as a good squat otherwise though.

No white lights though.

I seriously hate this online judging shit.   All it does is run down the sport and take away from the accomplishments of the lifters.

The video I saw (on a different forum) he was right at parallel.   There was no doubt about it.   I can't watch this video because I'm at work and U-tube is blocked for its pornographic tendancies.

Just give the guy the credit he has earned.

Too high.

Needed more weight on bar to get it down but he would have not been able to squat it then

I watched it from next to one of the side judges.  It was a legit lift.  Nobody else who was there had any doubts.

He gave it white lights because it was a good squat.  I was standing on his left side and I can assure you that was a good squat.

it's a huge squat, unbelievable but half squat.

People watch so many westside quarter squat that a half squat is now considered deep...

Yes, Bonderenko's squat is buried.  THat does not mean all squats have to be that deep.  There is a video of Cartwrights squat from a different angle and you can see that it is deep enough.

I agree with you Hedgehog, this should not be validated. Not deep enough!

The video is taken at low angle filming slightly up.  I watched that squat at the meet from the side and I can assure you it was below paralell.

Denison? wasnt he the dude from Bigger Stronger Fatser?

Looked very handsome in his digital camo ACU.

I was in the movie "Power Unlimited"

Haven't been on this board forever. Just browsing and I stumble on this thread. ha!

Hoss Cartwright's squat was definitely on the money. Ed Coan and Kirk Karwoski spoke to him on the phone and congratulated him.
You don't get calls like that from Ed and Kirk if your not breaking parallel.
