thing is i just came out from a 12 week strength training...  :'( :'(

ah, i musta misread. i thought u meant giant sets as in big sets with higher reps and light weight.

my feeling is that for you to post this here and ask means you're ready for 6-8 weeks doing something pretty different to what you've been on.

sometimes, switching between the polar opposites of training can help you get the best from both. certainly relieves the boredom.

I think we misunderstand each other.

I did 1 1/2 years Giant sets until January, then 12 weeks TRX strength program, now i am back in the gym after 12 weeks TRX bodyweight training and the gym sucks.
I went back to giant sets, but the split with only one body part per day is boring now.  :'( :'(

i got good gains on hst, but it burned me out.

also i feel there are quite a few holes in its theory. i.e. higher rep ranges, strategic deconditioning etc

Interesting. Debussey has heard that a certain Gary Busey got his best gains (especially strength) on HST, while feeling more energy during the rest of the day and in the gym.

How so?

MaxOT = 30mins-40-mins WO.

HST with 90% workload takes you a few hours to do a workout, at least in the Cluster HST. It was also the worst thing i ever did for my health and my joints, did make some good gains though.

Debussey has heard that it can be done in less than a few hours.

I also did great with 12-8-4 HST, although I only did 4 and single reps where I felt it would benefit me.

I don;t get how u can built serious strength from just bodyweight exercise. I would consider a 5x5 programme for strength or a traditional "bodybuilder" programme for hypertrophy. obviously these things can overlap and different people will get different results.

regarding max-ot . i do know a guy that tried it and liked it. got good strength gains and still trains in a similar style.

For some reason, HST = less strain on the joints for Gary Busey, which = very good if you = into other explosive sports that can wreck havoc on your joints/tendons.

hehe, look into my training log on the training board, the bodyweigth strength program was really good.

i'll try MaxOT for a few weeks and see what i can get of it.

thanks a lot.

I love max-ot. I alternate between that and a power/hypertrophy split. However, it didn't do much for my legs or bi's.

gymnasts are considered the strongest athletes in the world pound for pound - from only bodyweight training.

i agree, bodyweight exercises are underrated. handstand push ups, one legged squats and such things are exercises that only few people can do.

very good, however..........

the low reps will kill your joints, and although your strength will improve, your size gains will not be as impressive due to intensity range that targets rate coding improvements morso than hypertrophy.

if you lift in the 5-8 rep range and keep everything else the same you will get far better results with no joint issues.
yes because everyone knows that the difference in joint pain between 5 reps and 7 reps is HUGE. ::)

It needs to be said... People, be very, very careful with your home address. Don't give him any ideas.

We want to suppot Dave in taking small steps towards rehabilitation from his criminal ways.
