Radio Shack Customer Receives Beating After Asking for Manager

If you've ever worked in customer service, you know how infuriating it is to listen to an endless string of mundane complaints or fend off duplicitous customers looking to get something for free. Regardless, there's a line that customer service reps should never cross -- the line between angrily getting a supervisor and mercilessly pummeling the dissatisfied shopper.

According to WEAU, Radio Shack employee James Knol of Eau Claire, Wisconsin crossed that line last Sunday night (April 28). Knol not only refused to accept a return item from customer Leigh Carey, but he also started punching him so violently that a witness called '911.' Apparently, Knol went all 'Incredible Hulk' when Carey asked to see his manager.

Knol was charged with disorderly conduct and battery, but WEAU didn't release any details about Carey's condition or plans for litigation, although we won't be surprised to see a lawsuit in the very near future. [From: WEAU]

Actually, I do it for two reasons.  The first is that I am making gentle fun of those who actually think his name is Andy Griffin (more common than you might imagine).  The second is that whenever someone tries to flame me for it, it is the perfect setup for my reply, "I know my own name, bitch."  Since you didn't flame, I didn't get to use my line.   :-\

Ironically, back in 1997, I worked at a Radio Shack during the Christmas season and end of the year.  I never melted, but one customer did, right before my eyes.

It was the first year those Sony Playstations had come out, and they required a "y-adaptor" which Sony forgot to include in most of the packages.  Therefore, many who received the PS were unable to play with it on Christmas Day.  Once the store opened, we were swamped with people needing y-adaptors, and they were pissed at us even though we didn't sell the Playstation.  By lunchtime, there were only a few y-adaptors left.  We moved them to a small box next to one of the cash registers.

One angry b***h came up to me at about 4:00 and said, "I need a GD y-adaptor because you incompetent a**holes didn't include them in the Playstation!!"  I didn't bother correcting her, and I handed her one.  I told her, "That will be $1.79, please."  She screamed, "That's highway f***ing robbery!!!   They're only $1.50 at Circuit City."  She stormed out.  About an hour or so later, she returned.  Apparently Circuit City was out of them.  By now, we were out as well.  She walked up to the register (lucky me) and said, "Well, I guess you f***ing thieves win!  I'll take that y-adaptor."  I got an NSE (non-sexual erection) telling her that we were out.  She then melted down completely, to the point the Store Manager ordered her to leave and never return.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I dont know anything about this case but I'm going to say that the customer deserved it.  In my experience, they usually do.

Generally I in favor of more beatdowns...on a grander scale...and particularity if they are complaining customers.
