She knew from the beginning. According to a CIA document compiled by the Director of National Intelligence summarizing briefings to Congress on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorist detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) knew from the very beginning that those techniques -- including waterboarding -- were being used on September 4, 2002.

According to the memo the very first briefing listed is 9/4/02 with then Rep. Porter Goss & Pelosi. The summary of the briefing says:

“Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed.”

This directly contradicts Pelosi’s story, that “we were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.”

As HUMAN EVENTS reported earlier, Pelosi - by objecting to the use of the enhanced interrogation techniques - could have stopped them but didn't.

Pelosi's misstatements were apparently intended to divert attention from her and other Democrats in Congress who knew of all the enhanced interrogation methods -- in detail -- apparently as soon as they were being used.

But it's not torture.......she lied and said she knew nothing and was caught. Libs want to investigate the Bush administration, if thats the case I say Obama's administration gets investigated as well.

Pelosi is a piece of crap.

However, Obama has yet to start a war based on false intel and approve torture. And since he's a Lilly livered liberal he isn't going to start any war. Right?

How can anyone but a complete moron deny that waterboarding is torture - it still staggers my imagination. It is used to induce discomfort to make victims (terror suspects if you like) talk - that's torture.

Bush BROKE SERIOUS LAWS, American, and International, that other people who committed those same crimes were put to DEATH BY OUR GOVERNMENT. A police officer tortured a suspect in TEXAS while Bush was GOV and got 5 years in prison and Bush didnt pardon his sentence...

IF PRESIDENT OBAMA DOES NOT prosecute them HE HIMSELF CAN BE CHARGED WITH WAR CRIMES, as per the Geneva Convention. Any time a leader knows of a war crime being committed and does NOT investigate and prosecute, they can be held to war crimes themselves!!! HE HAS NO CHOICE!!!!!!!!

Busted...you also forgot about the "whistleblower" clause. Scooter Libby is a bad example as he outed two field CIA operatives, he wasn't a whistleblower in regards to an illegal policy. Pelosi could have done something about it if what she was briefed on was illegal. I think that Pelosi was caught in a lie, like most politicians usually are.

That said, I think that there should be no debate on whether or not to investigate/prosecute Bush administration officials. Our former president LIED to the AMERICAN people about going to war and what we were doing to our POWs. That still makes me angry when I think about it. I really hope that Bush, Cheney, Rice, and any other official involved should be investigated and if able; brought up on charges of war crimes/lying to the American people.
