Does it matter whether I have a pizza 2 hours before sleep or 10 hours before?

matter for what?

Fat loss and body composition.

Example: I comsume 1600 calories and 2 hours before sleep, 800 of those calories come from a small pizza. Does it matter?

Irrelevant for body composition?

AFAIK the original theory was that GH is lowered by eating at night (which may be true) but studies on body comp. showed no effect.

You seem to have looked at a lot of studies. Can you post some links?

But basically letzten Endes the point is that the only factor involved in fat loss is a caloric deficit?

Posted a link yesterday on the alcohol thing. Too lazy today. ;D
But I'm pretty positive.

What's important for fat loss resp. muscle preservation is enough protein, caloric deficit, weight training.

Carbs are irrelevant?

Why then do so many people rave about Ketogenic diets? (serious question)...

Could Beer be good for my complection?  Every time I drink it my face looks very clear the next day.

It works just as good as any other high protein diet. I can remember a study that even showed slightly worse body composition on keto. My problem with it was that I couldn't keep my strength up. For people who can, it's feasible and maybe even more convenient than a diet with carbs.

without carbs you are in an extremely catabolic state
ketogenic diets have even killed people

I haven't had any problems with ketogenic diets, certainly no health problems.

Killing people? Where did you get that one kid?

It's Blechman's new schtick. He tries to piss on Palumbo's parade.

Yeah that's the one I meant. It started the "carb wars" on the MD forums. ::)

Blechman started to bash Palumbo on his own site. It was right before he fired Dave and John from MD.

So they actually have nothing to do with carbs?

Yes they do, Blechman started threads on the MD board saying how bad Keto is and how a high carb diet is way better.
