Oh those? They are the ones who aren't happy with the current GOP splintered status. So their plan is to continue to push their moderate members out of the party and thus shrink the base even more so in the process. Which basically gurantees that they will never win another election until they embrace their moderates and present a unified front.

I work.
I pay taxes.
I am a registered Independent.
Contrary to what you might think, I have very conservative views about certain issues.
I also have liberal views regarding some issues as well.
When I vote, I tend to vote for what seems to offer the best in terms of the overall picture, not just in terms of single issues.

However, I voted Democrat simply because the Republican party offered nothing worthwhile or different. Until they strive to reach a common ground with moderates like myself instead of whining and waiting for us moderates to reach common ground with them, they will continue to lose the votes of people like myself who sit on the fence each election cycle.

Old people take far more out from the system than they ever put in. SS and Medicare are broke and going to dwarf all previous financial disasters.

Blacks vote 99% Dem every time and will eat whatever crap sandwhich the Dems shove them.

Young people either dont vote or vote Dem because they are looking for free stuff and are still in the drunken College days and have neverpaid taxes.

Union memebers and Govt workers mostly vote for Democrats for obvious reasons.

Thats funny,did Regan try to appease moderates?When the republicans took the congress,did Newt try to appease moderates?No,what DREW moderates was the policies of conservatism.Lower taxes,less government,more freedom,more liberty.When you stand in the middle of the road,you get run over.

Did the dems become moderate when they lost in 2004?No,they went so far left ,they nominated a radical,racist,socialist.They didnt try to appease moderates,they drew them by standing for something[the wrong things,but something is better then nothing].

Just look at the campaign tactics of both parties and why they press certain issues over others.
