Should Evan do the Olympia?
« on: May 17, 2009, 06:52:20 AM »
I vote NO

It's an incredibly tough lineup this year and why enter knowing you can't place top 6?

he's very young (27)

I'd take some time off and do the ironman or Arnold 2010

There is no way he can bring up his weakpoints in time for the O

I'd take the Phil Heath route and hit another show but not the Olympia this year. Needs another year for more size. Maybe the Arnold next year though...

NO he should wait

Besides this year the top 6 is already locked at the O

In no particular order:

Kai
Dex
Phil
Vic
Phil
Jay

Imagine if he could crack that crowd tho,  :D

He can be top 10, maybe even 8th.  So, that would be a good first Olympia.

why he should fucking wait?  ::) for what?

he should do the Olympia just for experience.

So whoever qualifies for the Olympia must take 2,3564634234 years to make "improvements" in the hope of becoming Mr. Olympia? He must be delusional if he does this.

Yea he should enter the O, but be prepared to be out of the top ten. Look what Kai has done this year by waiting it out a year. Now he is a real contender for the O.

Phil heath waited to beef up.

Evan doesn't need to do that, IMO.

Do the show, get top 10, and consider it a win for 2009.

I honestly didn't think he looked all that impressive.  As usual, much better in pics prior to the show.  I think he'd have issues at the O, could be wrong though.

I agree - is it the tanning oil shit they put on? Looks like they rubbed Shine-ola all over their body. Why do people insist on doing that?

Am I the only one that thinks like this?

Word.  Evan looked like he took a bath in baby oil.  I thought the others looked normal, but his was WAY off-enough so that if I were a judge, I might have been tempted to knock him down a point or two.

Evan has great tools and potential, but he's got a long way to go before he's a challenger at the Olympia.  He would be fortunate to make the top 10 in this year's lineup.

Why wouldn't he do it?  If anything, it will elevate his career further (more sponsors) and allow him to gain some experience.  Evan's playing with house money and he has nothing to lose.

He's a thoughtful guy and won't jump right in if he doesn't feel as if he can win. He's been very deliberate about his career up to this point, and I don't see that changing.  No way he's going to be in the top 6 of this year's show.

Jay, Dex, Phil, Dennis, Victor, Kai, Branch, Toney...Evan isn't going to be knocking any of these guys off this time around.  He didn't dominate the NY Pro by any stretch.

his marketability might drop if he is tied for 16 and beaten by a few scrubs at the O.

Even Phil heath, who dominated his first 2 shows, didn't compete at the O right away.

Evan could have been 3rd at this show.  If it were held in TX or Cali, he probably would have been 3rd.
