That's Fairfield County propping that up. The average price of a house here is something around $450-500k while the rest of the state is like $150k, if I remember right.

It was but I don't think it is anymore. I remember some county in Wyoming or something passing us. Take Bridgeport out of FC and it probably moves back to the top.

I know plenty of guys who can and do do top end work, but there simply aren't enough multi million dollar residential jobs in most cities to keep a craftsman in work, so even the best tradesman around is obliged to meatball to some extent. Most people simply cannot afford a level of quality that the super rich can pay for. Same as it ever was.

Supreme craftsmanship is alive and well but these are not the guys you'll find on an average budget job, and you definitely won't get it from uninsured Juan and his 12 no habla cousins' rock bottom quote.

Has anyone in this thread managed to identify a specific problem yet?

in Southeastern Connecticut in Mystic...there is a new development that just went up around the corner and the new houses look nice but some dont have chimneys that I found to be odd..And I'm putting new siding up in the fall on the outside of the house and it is going to be about 13k..but I wont have to worry about painting the outside of the house.

you should get rhinoshield paint instead of siding(looks like shit), it lasts forever, lifetime warranty.
