Putting your adversaries to work. Political brilliance?
« on: May 18, 2009, 02:24:09 PM »
Sent Huntsman to Shanghai as Envoy to China.  The guy was already assembling teams and framework for a 2012 run.  now he'll be the guy begging China not to drop the buck on the other side of the world.

Appointed Hilary to Sec of State so she can't challenge him in 2012 should the economy suck, his Stim bill be the reason, and she be a viable challenger in the primary.

Plus Obama tried to appoint Sen. Gregg, who shrewdly accepted then rejected the job to be the one senator that told Obama to stuff it.

Is it brilliant to take the people who will be your biggest future challengers and make their goals the same as yours?  if you fail, they fail.

Huntsman's father is worth tens of billions of dollars, and he's already worked as an energy man and made hundreds of millions on his own volution.

I think lobbyist would be a pay cut.

And as far as "he does not realize it".... I have to think if message board chumps like us realize it, a governor with an assembled framework for a 2012 run might have an inkling...

you really think hillary will go down with the ship? doubt it if things do start to go down hill she wont sit there and be quit, she will leak shit out about her disagreements and try and distance herself from obama, which will only serve to make the situation worse for both of them but hillary would more then likely come out ahead in that deal.

This move paid off for Obama - shipping Huntsman overseas.

Now, will Huntsman accept some role for obama over the next 4 years?  Or will he spend his time in Iowa making friends/alliances and preparing for a run?

not to mention kept on Robert gates as his Secretary of Defense....having a Republican in that position gave Obama alot of street cred and provided political cover
