Obama OKs nuclear deal with United Arab Emirates

President Barack Obama agreed Wednesday to share US nuclear power technology with the oil-rich United Arab Emirates, giving his consent to a deal signed in the final days of George W. Bush's administration.

The pact now goes to Congress, which will have 90 days to amend or reject it.

The agreement creates a legal framework for the US to transfer sensitive nuclear items to the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven Middle Eastern states that wants nuclear power to satisfy growing demand for electricity.

Although flush with oil, the emirates imports 60 percent of the natural gas they use to generate electricity. The United Arab Emerates wants to break its dependence on outside sources for its energy needs and settled on nuclear power as the best option.

Not funny.  I live in the Bronx and went to college in riverdale section of the bronx.  It is a 15 minute walk from me and they just busted a terror plot last night that sought to do shit right near where I live.

The only good thing that can occur from this is that they will be in missiles range of Iran and thus provide more legitimacy to attack Iran since we know those fuckers have no problem killing fellow Arabs.

Beside that, and I hardly think that the forementioned reason is good, it's a shitty move, no matter if GWB or Obama is doing it.

I think we all need to see a little more information before you all chant doom and gloom. I would assume that you wont be passing on many secrets, since the US would be in charge of producing and recycling the fuel, besides the secrets sold by A.Q. Kahn to the middle east kinda surpass what ever you might find in a nuclear power station.

One other point: im sure you're all aware of the fact that had you not gone through with this deal there is a long line of countries that would be more than happy to take your place.

China, Russia, France, and yes UK...would all gladly step in and sell their Nuclear wares at the expense of the USA...and ill be damned if the Russians get ahead of the rest of us. International politics people, its a cut throat business
