I don`t celebrate Christmas or Thanksgiving.

I guess Marx & Lenin's  birthdays provide good substitutes right???

I get 30 days off a year..or 2.5 days per month. Have u ever worked 365 days straight...without more then an afternoon off? Have u ever spent 30 plus days without a shower...ever spent weeks in sustained combat....ever bailed out ur subordinates from jail, many times...delt with wives and girlfriends, financial issues....missed every major holiday in a calendar year. Where will u spend this Thanksgivings and christmas...mine will be in Iraq. I earn my 30. I barely take em, but i earn em.

TA doesnt even have a job or mortgage to pay.

Yeah..how's France done in the last 50 years? Whats France done in the last 50 years?

If you had to bet on which economy would be stronger, and whose money would be stronger in a year...

I think France might be a safer bet than us right now :(

I think we could see increased productivity, if the standards for excellence were raised as well.  Expsct more of people from monday thru thurs, then let them enjoy a 3-day weekend.  If they can't get the job done in 4 days, then fire them and replace them with more productive employees.

How do you know?

No one who "works" part time at a college can afford to have a mortgage.

Hysterical!

You have said over and over that the stimulus plan would create 4 million jobs in 18 months.  That was three months ago.

Are you back tracking 240????

Have you ever considered that a high turnover rate is a direct result of employee stress, especially with large corporate employers?

Every single other Industrialized nation, including those that are way ahead of us, have Federal paid vacations.  As a direct result, lower employee turnover rates.  This will also allow employees a bit of time off to go to the doctor, make arrangements for their family etc...  Talk to most people and their "paid vacation" is not spent taking a cruise to the Virgin Islands, instead it is doing things they HAVE to do outside of work, but have not been able to do given the time restraint.

In fact, this will save corporations more money as they will curtail employee stress and therefore reduce the turnover rate which will save on training costs of hiring another employee.

3336, you run a one man operation and decide when you take off and when you don`t.  You are not locked in as a majority of people are and never had to deal with such issues.

Fine, let them take time off, just dont have the government FORCE companies to pay for that time!!

Good grief.  I bet the Appeaser in Chief will be all over this one.

I doubt there is a company in America with more than 100 employees that doesn't already offer at least a week's paid vacation.

Socialists suck.

If an employee isn't happy with benefits offered by his or her employer, he or she should go work someplace else.  Any company that wants to be competitive and attract good employees already offers at least a week (and likely more) of paid vacation.

This smacks of organized crime union work here.

I am all for days off, but forcing an employer to provide them just sets things up for problems. Jobs without any sort of time off policies are usually low-end jobs you wouldn't want anyways.

The problem is that for entry level positions, laws like this are a barrier to employment, not a catylst.

Additionally, employers simply will not hire people full time anymore and put people on a 1099 basis or hire temp agencies.
