Arnolds job when he was bodybuilding? how he made money?

I remember a while ago someone saying he had a construction business.  How did he pay to come to the US back in the day?  I think i remember people talkin about it on here a while ago but cant find the threads.  He had a car, trained twice a day, went to the beach alot.  How did he find time to work?  How did he pay for food, gym, apartment, car etc???

x2. Arnold and Franco (due to Arnold) were the first bodybuilders basically payed to just be bodybuilders by Joe Weider. Joe gave them a weekly salary, apartment, etc, and Arnold appeared on Joe's magazine. Pretty much a douche move to all the other guys that appeared on the magazines that didn't get payed, but thats how it worked.

lol paid to be bodybuilders, Joe use to take Arnold to buy milkshakes on the boardwalk, what 60 or 70 year old married man would be taking around a 20 something bodybuilder for milkshakes at the beach, Arnold and most if not all were the g4p pioneers.

of course they did g4p too. But Joe did give them money and screwed over the other bodybuilders. Bill Grant, Dave Draper, and Robby have spoke on this.

Joe was in his late 40s when started sponsoring Arnold, 25 year age difference between the two

what's the rule?  your age divided by 2 plus 7 ?

And of course Arnold still spins it as "an immigrant arriving in America with nothing". Must've been tough, Venice in the late 60s, work permit, apt., car, wages, publicity, ability to make more money on BB courses, articles and appearances, etc. He had enough leverage to get that and have Columbu sponsored as well. The initial real estate advice was from the luxury of knowing various business men including Weider, Gold and his German friend.

Good to see Mars disappear, maybe he should try lifting.

I went on a vacation trip to Los Angeles in the mid 1980's and was working in the broadcasting industry as a technician at the time.  I met
a tech who had worked as a sound man for Merv Griffin Productions.  He said that Merv Griffin taught him how to invest, and that his initial capital came from his appearances on the Merv Griffin show. (AFTRA scale is a tidy sum, and Arnold was/is a skilled raconteur)
