« on: May 23, 2009, 08:28:27 AM »
what do you do when a part of your body is severely compromised and you can train everything else?

Just ignore it?

I need help here.

Docs don't wanna know nothing.

How about changing your primary physician into one that satisfies your needs better if that = the main problem?

If it has been worrying you/causing pain for a few days on end, get it checked out. Go to a physio. Better safe than sorry.....
No doubt about it...

I think docs are frustrated
maybe I should go out of state to find a fresh/unbiased persepective?

i hurt my shoulder, lost 2 months of training.  i should have trained legs the whole time, but i was a dumbass and just kept trying shoulders, as if training wass smarter than rest.

In the end, rest worked.  Along with active release therapy, which I can't recommend enough.

I unseated a bicep tendon in my shoulder once.  Awful and it took forever to come back from...mainly because I was broke, in college, and couldn't afford a doc.  Now, I haven't had problems with it.

Best to get it checked, if you can afford it, and be sure to rest it.  Don't think you can "walk it off" contrary to hs football coaches across America.

www.activerelease.com

see if a doc in your area does it.

regular massage + electricity + motion all at once.

normally I consider chiropractors to be quacks, crooks, opportunists.

But one session was all it took to break up whatever crap was in my shoulder/biceps tendon and I was back in the gym 3 days later.

Do you have a local college or pro sports team?  If so, try to find out who they use....often they truly are the best and actually know what sports injuries are about....instead of a doc who is used to treating old ladies with bad hips or a fat guy who "wrenched" his back...  good luck.

yes. At www.activerelease.com you enter your zip code, and you get links to the nearest docs in your area who do it.

Milos sarcev was an hour away from surgery on his shoulder, and discovered it, and managed to avoid going under the knife.  I emailed him, he responded with great detail about it, and despite my reservations about chiropractors, I went.

Do I still think 99% of them are ambulance-chasing quacks?  yes I do.  But I also know that 30 minutes of semi-painful (okay, pretty painful) massage, stretch, movement and electricity did clear the tendon of all the crap.

I got better, and after fearing I was in for a lifetime problem, it went away.
