Hardy had been adamant in recent months that he wanted time off, which led to a lot of the workers privately championing him as he's bucking the usual fear that if you walk away, you won't be utilized down the line by management.
Jeff probably could get away with that.
While not everyone is as lucky, he’d be wise to exercise that ability.
As for the reality show, I also think that’s a smart move. Aside from some “quirk” that makes them unusual, lots of otherwise uninteresting people have their own shows these days – just look at TLC’s lineup of John & Kate, the midget family, etc.
The Hardy’s should have no problem getting a couple of seasons on TV.
Could also boost their value in wrestling, as they learn something that guys like Piper & Ventura figured out years before:
Go out and become successful at something else, and you can always come back a more valuable player.
Regardless, Jeff either has an awesome “poker face” and is bluffing, or he knows WWF needs him more than he needs them – he may have something on the backburner that is all but a done deal, or maybe he’s one of those guys who wisely managed his money and doesn’t
have to work.
