Why not?

It underminds the integrity of the qualifying process...if you allow it for one, then the line becomes much longer and convoluted as to who merits consideration and who doesn't.

The way it is now, you either qualify on your OWN merit, or you don't.  No gray area

No, he would need to be put forward by the promoter to the IFBB for consideration.

There are lots of guys deserving, but it wont change the fact that we have a system in place....and no athletes are given an invite due to sponsor consideration
Enough money he'll be there ;D

The way it is now, you either qualify on your OWN merit, or you don't.  No gray area

But the rules explicitly allow for a special invite and it has been awarded before.
And whoever decided to include the rule didn't consider it to be undermining the integrity of the qualifying process so why are you?

But you are correct that there is no gray area - a special invite can be awarded to someone who has not qualified by other means.

So considering your position as IFBB Athletes rep and your opinion that the rule undermines the integrity of the qualifying process are you going to call for the rule to be removed?

It's comical how Chick just pretends the "special invite" rule doesn't exist, yet it's right there in black and white.  It's part of the rules, and has been used before.

Yes, the rules allow for the promoter to submit for consideration a "special invite"...the rule has been in place for some time.

Unfortunately, the former "regime" didn't understand ( or chose not to) the intention of the rule, or who it was intended for.

Of course they didn't see it as undermining the integrity, they had their own self interests in mind...

Why call for it's removal?

Why call for it's removal?

Wasn't it Joe Weider who asked for the inclusion of Gunther?

If you consider the rule to be undermining the qualifying process, then shouldn't it be removed?

No one said it doesn't exist, moron....

What I said was that it should only be used in special circumstances (injury) or a former Mr. Olympia, etc....not some sponsor consideration

It WAS used before...by your buddy Wayne, for the wrong reasons...which the other athletes didn't appreciate very much

Wayne?  Why would Wayne care if Gunter was in the O?  On the other hand, Gunter was a Weider athlete.  ;D

Joe, or Wayne...

The rule isn't undermining if given to the proper individual (who is deserving)....merely giving it to an athlete because their company is a sponsor would be....as would any joe blow that just didn't get the qualification by competing.

There are lots of things you wouldn't have any knowledge of, this being one of them...unfortunately, posting 40+ times on Getbig daily doesn't give you anymore insight into pro bodybuilding

Personally I think it would only be undermining if the sponsor asked for a non IFBB athlete to be allowed to compete.

Of course all those who don't get an invite will be pissed  ;D ;D ;D ;D
