The rule isn't undermining if given to the proper individual (who is deserving)....merely giving it to an athlete because their company is a sponsor would be....as would any joe blow that just didn't get the qualification by competing.

It was (and IS) Joe's show....whether or not thats the way it happened, I dont know.....which is why I said Wayne OR Joe i my original answer Genius...

I've met Joe a total of 3 times in my life...he's been retired for all thre of those times...so tell me again how kissing his ass is applicable?

I always laugh at how the kids here think Joe has a hand in things re the Olympia, its outcome, etc., or that he is a gay schmoe and all the other, utter nonsense

Chick isn't "spinning" anything.

The rule is there to allow the promoter the option of asking for an athlete to be given a special invite.

It is not a rule forcing him to apply for one.

If the promoter recommends an athlete for one, it is still the IFBB who decide if it's awarded.

Gunther was the last person to get one so the lack of special invites has actually been consistent since 2002. And although special invites have been awarded in the past it is still down to the promoter to request one. He's not forced to.
