That depends. I think compared to many others it is not. But would you ever use the expression 'se tenir' to say something like:I stood in line for 3 hours=Je me suis tenu a la queue pendant 2 heures? I don't think so, but correct me if I am wrong.
Yes, we ll say. " Je me suis tenu dans la file d'attente pendant 3 heures = I stood in line for 3 hours. Line = File d'attenteYou can say "queue" but it's not that good, cuz queue can mean dick in slang.
There are similar things in japanese. 座る means the act "to sit down", when you are sitting on a chair you have to use a form like "sitting" 座っている
