I always train to failure, every set, i have no idea how i would measure what i do without it.

It's obviously hard on the body which is why i need so few sets.

Going beyond failure is very hard on the body and i only use it now and then for a shock.

when i was 17 i really worked out like dorian yates

it was fucking hard but i think it helped to me develop a good physique
now i train nearly till full failure

there are some exercises like benchpressing which i do till failure and some others leg legpressing which i do pretty intense but not till failure

i don't know but some exercises feel great when done till failure...if i stop before i have a bad feeling

Right now I am doing ganz koerpertraining 3x a week so I don't go to absolute failure...speaking of which I am off to the gym...

i mean i don't do any forced shit like tom platz but i do my exercises very intense so i have a good feeling afterwards

You squat to failure?  Moderate weight, 10+ reps, to true failure?

I try to out do the previous workout, either more weight or more reps.  Gimmie that progress and I'm happy.


Btw, my recovery ability is especially shitty.  Most guys probably wouldn't get hit so hard.

I always go to failure - on every set of every exercise of every workout. Just take enough time off between sets so you can do the next one with the maximum weight you can do. I sometimes take up to 8 or 10 minutes off between max sets of deadlifts.

Good point. Go to failure every set the key is to rest enough days in between to recover.

Depends on genetics.

If you train a body part to failure and are stronger the next time, I'd say it worked. Otherwise, you just walked away with a pump and lots of lactic acid. Tons of people either overtrain or use way more weight than they can safely control. Is there really any chance doing partial squats with 585 on a Smith machine will grow muscle?

I'd say having a plan (diet and exercise) and changing workouts occasionally are the way to go.

After genetics, I'd argue most of how people look has to do with their diet and habits (alcohol, rest, hydration, drugs, etc...) between workouts.
