Does Tanning Burn fat?
« on: May 30, 2009, 10:38:59 PM »
I have been wondering about this for a while.  Is tanning only for looks? or does the Vitamin D cause your body to loose fat?  I did a little research and was amazed how BodyBuilding foods are very high in Vitamin D

Can't really comment on the Vitamin D aspect of it, but i assumed tanning was the same as a sauna in that you aren't really burning any more calories, rather than just sweating/losing water weight.
No doubt about it...

My cousin asked me if she looked tan once and I told her tanned fat looks better than ghost white fat.

Does Tanning Burn Fat

If it does, I suspect it is such a miniscule/negligible amount that it is unnoticeable.
Agree with the sauna statement, though a sauna is probably more effective due to intensity and duration.

Tanning also dries the skin, which can help reduce acne and also cover up the rest. Also good for camouflaging stretch marks.

If you want the benefits of tanning, sweating, and losing fat, then take off your shirt and cut your lawn with a push mower on a hot, sunny day. :)

I disagree...when tanned you can see their cottage cheese easier and from a further distance.

The sun raises metabolic rate, so you can say it burns fat. It increases caloric expedenture, which leads to fat burning. So yes.

enough to burn fat? or just 2 sweat? grabbing a hamburger also increases caloric expedenture, but that doenst mean you burn fat at it.

The Sun raises metabolism and burns calories to a higher degree than grabbing a hamburger. Hope this helped to elucidate this issue for you.

well I feel less hungry after sunbathe. I think it helps, of course about D vitamin and maybe many functions are supported, it's energy...
