With all this talk of Ron being out of shape, i sent him this via pm

He likes to work out, and is getting in pretty hard, toned shape. I don't think he wants to get to 'jacked' as the youngsters like to say, but he looks to have potential.

Anyway...Here was my offer for a job to him consisted of(more like a sponsorship):

I am going to pay him $1,000.00 per month for four months, until he goes to college, to workout.

His job 'perks' will also include:

-Free tanning for the summer

-Natural NPC and WNBF Champion Ralph Remy as his trainer (twice per month to keep him on track)

-All the supplements he needs

-Photographs taken monthly by my NPC contest photographer, Dave Cain

-All necessary motivational and training books and literature

-Weekly stipend for food as per whatever Ralph writes up in his diet.

My nephew was pretty psyched by my "job offer". He is all up for it.

However...

I told him he may get an additional part time job (Truly, how much time can training take?), but ONLY if he does not miss workouts or screw up any other portion of his regimen because of it.

He must write down all aspects of his training and nutrition, and present it to me at the end of each month, at which time I will 'pay' him with the $1,000.00 installment.

And he must reach his goals by September 1st.

There are other facets to this, but I will not bore you.

In thought this might be a better 'sponsorship package' than what some IFBB pros get!

I don't have kids and am not married, so he is kinda like a surrogate son to me.

All I can tell you is I wish someone gave ME a job like this when I was 18!

PS: Anyone suggest good supplements for an 18 year old that taste pretty good and afford good protein? I buy my stuff through Dynamic Marketing...

i wish the man would fuckin workout for once in his life, then ask for advices on getbig! Ron do you "attempt" to workout or what dude? Do you lack energy? What is it? We can help!! We understand you work 12 hours a day, but that doesnt mean you cant take 60 seconds here or there to crank out 20 pushups 5 times a day does it? your neck being so huge is an indicator of high triglicerides wich could lead to a stroke at your age. Time to shape up for your sake just sayin..

Not judging Ron at all Stark. Just struggling to understand the catalyst and motivation for Ron being involved in BB without ever working out.

All i want is for Ron to be a healthy and happy man and father. Training a bit here and there wouldn't hurt though. We are all busy people, but regardless of how busy you are, most people can afford 30-45 mins 3 times a week or so.....

First and foremost, I am lazy. I admit that. In terms of getting myself to train.  I am not lazy on working, 10+ hours at DNA Sports, where I thrive and enjoy dealing with people. Or taking pictures, writing articles, and building a place where, for good or bad, is a small community that debates, argues and entertains out there.  I also like to spend time with my family, whereas when I do come home, I will put one of the kids to bed, be with them, and spend as much time as I can. I already miss dinner with them (they need to eat earlier), so it is tough.

I feel healthy, and I am a happy father, and a nice home, and good friends.  Don’t worry about me.  I have always maintained that I am a fan of bodybuilding, and thus, many fans of the sport don’t workout, and many do.  My kids get up at 6:30am, and I am a late owl (always have been), so excuses do keep coming up.

But yes, I do want to lose weight and get in shape, and hopefully, by the NPC USAs, I would of lost 15-20 pounds, and by the Olympia, another 15-20.  I currently weight 255 pounds, and am 6’1”.  So thanks for you concern, I do appreciate it. Hopefully, I will go under 250, then 240, and then more…

Bodybuilding is not a sport.

Its nothing fancy really alls it would take you is 20 seconds 5-10 times a day NO WEIGHTS NEEDED=NO FUCKING EXCUSES :) do pushups , squats or situps. this would be the START of change. i recommend the most potent antioxidant foods like grapefruit to start off with atleast big fat ronny falconia :)

Good luck Ron!  The GB community is firmly behind you.  You will have an unbelievable amount of increased energy if you can get your weight around 200 lbs.

ok newbies, for the last time, i'm typing this out:

Ron Avidan used to compete in the NPC from 1985-1989.  He was a top ranked competitor, and considered somewhat of an arch nemesis to the "legends" you worship today.  Anyone hear of Kevin Levrone?  Yeah, Ron beat him twice as an amateur.

In 1989, with the fall of the Soviet Union, the russian bodybuilders along with the russian drugs jumped on the national scene.  Ron, a lifetime natural until that point was disgusted with the scene and swore off bodybuilding forever.

In 1994, a friend (Arnold S.) called Ron and said "hey listen man, i know you're done with bodybuilding, but your name's still out there, do something with it".

So, Ron, then a president of Met-Rx, formed a little newsgroup online to appease his bodybuilding friends.

One thing lead to another, and many of Ron's bodybuilding friends (many female) came in contact with him again through the alt.getbig.newsgroup.

And here we are today.

So no more "why is Ron fat" threads, ok?

I knew Ron competed, I remember seeing some old pics.. but beating Levrone as an amateur, pretty impressive.

Ron's a modest guy.

I had a picture of him saved somewhere when he competed that he posted on the old board.  I'll see if i can find it.

How 'bout that time he lost to Haney by only 2 points @ the Nationals?  That's more impressive than beating a very young Kevin Levrone.

That was kind of funny, but it's just sad when he goes from competing in the Nationals and USA's one year, to competing in the "San Fernando Valley David Hasslehoff look-alike contest" the next.  :-\

I have to say i find it strange that somebody can be involved with BB without ever working out.

For me going to the gym is 95% of my love of BB.

That's fine.  We *want* you to love going to the gym.

There are, however, people who are more focused on making money from bodybuilding, so they will often work out less than those who don't care about the money.
