Tuefel passed away a while back. I heard rumors but am not privy to the actual facts as to the cause of death.

I knew Ron while he was competing nationally. He was a great guy back then.

HUMPHREY IS CORRECT.. he was a abusive drinker later in life.. worked at a home depot.. actually maintained a good physique even with the drinking issues..

Jorma Ratty 1980 Mr Universe under 80kg. Dude could fly with his lats and had Great arms.I guess we all die someday.Roger is a Classic dude as casual as Fuck.Would of liked to see him and Mentzer start punching people at the 1980 Olympia Now Fucking way was he that far down the line of placings.

Its no secret. Ron Teufel had AIDS and died December 22, 2002. Yes, he had liver problems, but without the HIV he could have probably dealt with it, or at least have had a much longer life.

In one of Jay's DVD, training for the 2005 O, Tony Pearson had a brief part where he's training someone at the same Gold's that Jay trains at. He mentions to Jay how much rowing has improved his (Jay's) back. Pearson looks great. Doesn't look like he's age at all.

A member of IronAge, who keeps in regular contact with Podda, PMed me that he will be visiting Podda in his cave. He told me he'll let me know how it goes.

It is spelled Jorma Räty, he died at heart failure at the age of 61. Great guy, met him few times at the gym. Old school builder with the widest back you ever will seen on a short guy like him was. He made just about all of his equipment by himself for his own gym, he have his own brand and shop at the time. Secret of those lats was chins, he loved to do those, wide grip, narrow grip, etc. Enermous biceps too for his size. His web site is under reconstruction, but here is few pictures at 1980 when he wins that title.
