I'm surprised you guys are not more excited by some of the fights on the main card?  And the best part is that it's all free on Showtime!

I think Arlovski has his hands full with the dangerous Brett Rogers who has looked very good in his last few fights.  His last fight against that tough Nigerian was a real slug fest!

Lawler and Shields should be good.... and Diaz against Scott Smith should be a barn burner!  Smith has come back from the brink of being knocked out ....and then winning fights ......he has to be a fan favorite.... even when he loses fights!

I'm just happy to see Randleman back on a maincard.....  he always comes to fight.

Who could ever forget him upsetting Crocop when Mirko was meant to be at his peak?

Whitehead won't be any pushover for Kevin though.  The whole main card looks interesting!

I actually like this card better than  UFC 98, WEC 41, and maybe even UFC 99.  Rogers is a beast but it will come down to Arlovski's boxing and his ability to stay calm and not jump the gun like he did against Fedor.  Rogers hits like a truck and Arlo's chin sucks, so he has that going for him, but as long as Arlo just paces himself and doesent get lured into a "toe to toe" he should be alright.  Arlovski could easily end this one on the ground but I don't think he would resort to that.  That's kinda the same scenario with Diaz/Smith, Diaz could easily end this one on the ground but he always opts to slug it out, which is where Scott and his hands of stone always present their danger.  Diaz has a more accumulation of damage style of boxing, where as Scott has the big right hand.  Baroni/Riggs should be a no reguards throwdown for sure.  Shields/Lawler thats a toss up, I hope Robbie polished up his takedown defense, and if he did Jake's getting busted up.  On the other hand if Jake can get Robbie down, he is really heavy from the top position and could end up either LnP his way to a decision, or even locking up a sub.  I have a feeling Kev and Whitehead is gonna be mostly a stand up fight, I even want to see the Kyle/Cavalcante fight.  Good shit.

Excellent post, Chutebox!  I agree on all points!

I'm really excited about these fights!  I hope Dana pays attention that it's all FREE!

I also want to see the Kyle/Cavalcante fight ..... but it seems it's not on the main card?

If there's a quick finish or two they will definately throw Kyle/Cavalcante in as filler.  I'm suprised that the UFC isn't doing their usual Spike tv counter programing that they usually do when a rival puts a card on.

Don't you sometimes wonder how Nick Diaz and Lawler would do again in a rematch?

They have both improved so much since their first fight!!!

Why don't they make it happen?

They will eventually, Lawler is a lot better suited for 185lbs.  When they last fought he was struggling badly to make 170lbs and sometimes that affects a persons ability to take a punch and recover from one as well.  Not to make excuses Nick won fair and square, but it seems as though the punch that put Robbie away was kind of a glancing blow.  I'd love to see that rematch, Nick and Jake are team mates and friends so if Robbie wins that is more reason to make that fight happen.

Mike Whitehead vs. Kevin Randleman - Round 1 -Whitehead with 4 inside leg kicks, make it 5.  Takedown by Randleman now and he has Whitehead's back but lets him stand back up.  Back to the leg kicks by Mike.  Whitehead with the takedown now and Randleman with an elevator to get back to standing. Kevin is looking a little bit gassed.  Another takedown by Whitehead but Randleman reverses.  Yet another takedown by Whitehead and Randleman just looks old.  He's still got some strength but this isn't THE Kevin Randleman of old.  Kevin back to standing and Whitehead has a little blood around his right eye.  Mike landing some shots on the feet now including some uppercuts.  And another takedown by Whitehead and the round ends with him on top.  clearly a 10-9 round for Whitehead.  Round 2 - Right hand lands for Whitehead and Randleman is hurt a little bit.  Clash of heads as Whitehead gets a takedown.  Into half guard.  Crossface by Whitehead now as he keeps trying to pass and finally gets side control.  Working some body shots now but not doing a lot wiith the position.  WHitehead almost finishes him with a forearm choke but then moves to mount but Randleman explodes up.  they're just circling throwing tired arm punches.  10-9 for Whitehead because he didn't actually do anything to make it 10-8.  Round 3 - Overhand right by Randleman and it caughte Whitehead's attention but didn't really do much but Kevin looks motivated.  Right hand by Whitehead now.  Right hand by Randleman and Whitehead is down!  Kevin with hammerfists but can't finish and Mike stands back up. They're both pretty exhausted now and it's all arm punches.  Nice jab now by Kevin and a double-leg by Whitehead with 2 minutes left.  Kevin gets to his feet nowwith 40 second left.  RIght hand by Whitehead rocks him.  the round ends and I'd go 10-9 Randleman for the knockdown making the fight 29-28 on my card.  Official Scorecards: 29-28 across the board for Mike Whitehead.  Mike Whitehead wins by unanimous decision.

Phil Baroni vs. Joe Riggs - Round 1 -Takedown by Riggs and he takes his back.  but Baroni survives and now it's back to side control.  Back to taking his back, then side control, landing punches along the way.  Baroni stands up and gets taken back down, and then the same thing again.  Baroni is on top now after Riggs gives up on a takedown and pulls guard.  Body work by Phil now.  Big John stands them up even though Baroni was punching constantly.  Riggs goes for a takedown and ends up on bottom again.  The round ends and it was 10-9 Riggs on my card for "positional dominance."  Round 2 - Baroni is stalking.  Left hand by Riggs and a leg kick follow up.  Riggs is looking quicker on the feet.  Superman punch followed by a takedown for Riggs.  Baroni stands back up and ends up in Riggs' guard.  Baroni is sucking wind BADLY. (shocker!)  Big knee by Riggs and now a big right hand.  Single leg by Riggs but he can't finish, Baroni tries for the single now and it was even less successful. Baroni kind of...flops for a shot but does eventually end up getting on top as Riggs pulls guard.  Triangle is deep for Riggs now but as he lands a punch to Phil's head it pops Baroni out.  The round ends and it was a pretty one sided round for Riggs, 10-9.  Round 3 - They touch gloves to start the round.  RESPECT!  HONOR!  I hate MMA sometimes.  Riggs landing some big shots on a gassed Baroni.  Spinning heel kick to the ribs lands now.  Baroni is just walking around trying to suck in more air than anyone has ever sucked in before.  Baroni is just getting eaten alive here. Body kick now.  Knee and two punches from Riggs and they all land solid.  Baroni is swelling up and walking away and getting hit with anything Joe feels like throwing.  Right hand from Phil now and Riggs just takes him down for the last 10 seconds.  10-8 round easily for Riggs to make it 30-26.  Official Scorecards: 30-27 across the board.  Joe Riggs wins by unanimous decision.

Nick Diaz vs. Scott Smith - Round 1 - Diaz with his usual "wide stance" and landing a few peppering shots.  Smith with the power shots but isn't landing yet.  More peppering strikes and Smith is trying to figure him out.  Bigger hots by Diaz now.  High kick, right hand hurts Smith.  Right hand by Smith lands hard, and another but he gets hit in return with that one.  Diaz sticks his chin out and then eats a right hand.  Smith had Diaz's back standing so Diaz is working for the kimura.  Takedown by Smith and he stands back up.  Smith is landing a little more now.  Diaz is landing more often but his game is to eat 6 punches to land 1 so he is playing his style.  A few more shots from Smith and Diaz didn't like it and gets a takedown to end the round.  10-9 Diaz on my card.  Round 2 - A bunch of flurries from Diaz and again they go to Smith having DIaz's back standing.  Smith with a right hand now that lands hard to the side of Nick's head.  Body shot hurts Smith but he fires back.  Diaz is cut below his eye. Diaz is landing a ton of punches and Smith fires back with a big right.  The body shots are the ones that are money for Nick.  Smith with an elbow in return.  More flurries from Diaz and Smith with a shot and JUST misses a huge head kick.  Diaz with three head kicks but nothing too solid.  Superman punch by Smith lands and now Diaz is landing again.  Body shot and Smith is on the ground as the round ends.  Round 3 - Smith comes out aggressive.  Body shot hurts Smith again and he just falls down.  Diaz is looking for a rear naked now as he takes his back.  The choke is in and Smith taps out.  Diaz kicks Smith off of him after the fight.   Whatever...  Nick Diaz wins by Submission (rear naked choke), round 3.

Diaz takes shots at Smith's training partners.  I'm sorry but I can't stand him.  Talks crap about people and says "I don't want to talk bad about people."

Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers - Round 1 - ROGERS KNOCKED HIM OUT!  20 SECONDS!  Arlovski's chin fails again!  Brett Rogers!  WHOO!  Brett Rogers wins by KO, round 1!

Jake Shields vs. Robbie Lawler - Round 1 -Rght hands from Lawler and kicks from Shields and now a single leg and Lawler defends well.  Now landing so me shots on Lawler.  Lawler sticks his head right into a guillotine and Lawler has to tap out!  Wow!  Lawler just GAVE him his neck.  Jake Shields wins by submission (guillotine choke), round 1.

Jake Shields avoided Robbie Lawlers big bombs to trap the UFC veteran in a fight ending guillotine choke midway through the first round in the main event of Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields.

It took Brett Grim Rogers all of twenty two seconds to dispatch of the heavily favored Andrei Arlovski as the imposing Rogers swarmed the former UFC heavyweight champion with heavy punches to bring about the conclusion of the contest.

Arlovski wasnt the only fighter to be upset on Saturday evenings Strikeforce card as another heavy favorite, Rafael Feijao Cavalcante fell victim to a Mike Kyle TKO in the second round of his preliminary bout.

Also on the main card, Nick Diaz improved upon his recent dismantling of Frank Shamrock when he picked apart Scott Smith on the feet for the duration of the bout before eventually sinking in the fight ending rear-naked choke in the third and final round.

A full list of results from the card are listed below:

Jake Shields def. Robbie Lawler via submission - Round 1, 2:02

Brett Rogers def. Andrei Alorvski via TKO - Round 1, 0:22

Nick Diaz def. Scott Smith via submission - Round 3, 1:41

Joe Riggs def. Phil Baroni via unanimous decision

Mike Whitehead def. Kevin Randleman via unanimous decision

Jesse Finney def. Josh Bumgarner via submission - Round 1, 1:55

Mike Kyle def. Rafael Cavalcante via TKO - Round 2, 4:05

Booker DeRousse def. James Wade via TKO - Round 1, 4:06

Tyron Woodley def. Salvoder Woods via submission - Round 1, 4:20

Lucas Lopes def. Scott Ventimiglia via disqualification - Round 1, 3:26

Pat Benson def. Dave Cochran via submission - Round 1, 2:18
