Freud was debunked by those who feared falling in love with their parents/children. Their effort in trying to attack his genius is telling of their character. I have believed Freud nay sayers were usually those who fell victim to his theories. The only thing i never understood of Freud was how he interpreted certain symbols in dreams.

A dog relies on humans to feed it and give it water because it's domesticated.  Dog's are washed by humans because we want them to smell nice....a dog is perfectly capable of washing itself.  Which has nothing to do with you saying a dog has no mind of it's own; that's untrue. 

Dog's do have discernible personalities.  Some are hyper, some are calm, some are timid others are fearless.  Not sure what you're trying to say here, but it's not making much sense.
