If you're paying it off, why would you need good credit?

i'm not paying it off.  i'll finance it.
aside from the house, i save enough for a major purchase (say the car costs 55k), and then finance it.  i have more than enough to pay it off, but if something happens, i have the money put away anyway to pay it off all the way through.  if that makes sense.

have you looked around lately?  with a little sweat, you can get a car for zero down, 0 interest for 5 years.  counting inflation and what not, you actually pay less.

Beggers can't be choosers.

She's ( and your stuck) with BMW, Audi, and the ladies choice the Lexus RX350...which if driven by a man his sperm count lowers a hundred fold.

dont' worry Parks, the rx350 was never an option.

also, the x6 isn't available in M in the U.S.?

Yeah, but the X6M is like 100k loaded in the states when available. Comes out in the fall, but it's ugly! Stick with the X5, it's a good choice!

As Torres says, but expect a monster price tag as well for the X5M/X6M. And she might not like the huge air intakes on the front bumper

you guys complain about pricing

the cheapest x6 here goes for 110k

the 5.0 liter engine goes for 150k

i dont even imagine what the x6m would go for!

there is no 4.0 liter engine, it's a twin turboed 4.4.

It's all relative, plus I don't think the op wants to spend 100k on a SUV, when you can pretty much do everything with a regular 4.8 or 3.0 X5.

There's no 3.5 in the 3 series. Only 3.0 and 3.0TT.

Next generation M3 will most likely use  6 cylinder turbo, and next generation M5 and M6 4.4tt found in the X5 M and X6 M. Maybe a little revised or updated engine, but most definitely be 4.4 V8TT.

Gotcha!! Pretty much, 335 is one badass car, I got one as a loaner when my car was in service. IMO, one of the most balanced cars for the price, very smooth suspension, fast, comfortable, pretty fuel efficient. Awesome car, I highly recommend it for people looking for a sports luxury coupe or sedan. N54 motor is the shit!!

have to get a crossover for the wife.

options:

bmw x5
merc ml350 4 matic
cadillac srx (2010, don't think it's out yet)

heavy favorite for now is the cadillac with the other two tied.

Yep, but what BMW has done with the V8 is turned the cylinders heads around so the exhaust is facing upwards, and running turboes off of that, I believe the turbos are in the "V", for less turbo lag. This has proved so successful on the standard 5.0 X6, that they have used the same engine I believe and up the boost.

You do realize any of the cars you mentioned for purchase will be virtually worthless by the time you pay them off.

Why don`t you do the smart thing and buy a used Range Rover or something for like 15,000- 20,000.  You can easily get one in that range with 15,000-30,000 miles or less miles even.

Makes no sense to waste your money like you are planning.
