I showed up in the best condition ever.  My trainer did an excellent job in putting together my meal and diet plan and the hard work paid off.  Needless to say, it was a very difficult show and I did not make the top 5 as I had to go up against some hardcore veterans of the sport because it was a pro qualifier but I still held my own.

Overall, very good show and I spoke with the judges and will make the necessary improvements to compete on that level.

Yes you were in the best condition of your life.  But, shit is still shit.  I bet your trainer (Queen Vissy) told you not to mention his real name.  Exactly what kind of pro qualifier was this.  Please tell us not one of the guys in your class got a pro card.  And I hope you listen to the judges and their suggestions.  Did the judges suggest a good caliber gun to use.  And what hallucinogenic did they test you for.

Vince, you still looked like shit!

You went on stage looking like you never picked up a weight in your life!

I dont understand why people are kissing your ass and saying things you want to hear!

Remember that story of the Emperor with no clothes? How all the townsfolk were telling the King he looked good in his clothes but the King was actually naked?

It took a little child to say,"Why is the King naked?"

Youre the idot King

You looked like shit!

It isn't as if Vince G CSN MFT is a beginner. He might still enter the novice division but the dude has been around for years now.

First of all, anyone of Goodrum's level would be nuts to post info about his contests on Getbig. Hasn't he learned anything at all here? Nope, this isn't the place to boast of Munzer-like conditioning and show up against Billy Guns looking like he never went to a gym in his life. His diplomas in sports nutrition and training mean bugger all. The dude is without any idea about how to build muscle and then get ready to appear on stage. His posing is the epitome of a novice. All that puffing and making faces as if his life depended on the outcome. There was hapless little Melvin Goodrum moved to the end of the lineup so the judges could compare the others for placings. Truth be told he gave 100% but it wasn't enough.

After the contest we learned from Melvin that he had a cold. So that prevented him from breathing properly on stage. Of course he was put off his posing because the judges told him not to flare his lats in the standing relaxed. Ah, the excuses explain everything. I shake my head at this drivel. The plain, unvarnished truth is that Melvin came in leaner than previously but was still looking smooth on stage and he was noticeably smaller in the muscle department. The end result? Last place in his group and no trophy.

What do inexperienced novices do after a contest? They approach some of the judges to find out what happened and how they can improve. That is the hallmark of beginners and usually a waste of time. Why? Well the judges don't want to make contestants feel worse than they already do so they give them platitudes. You know, get more defined next time. You need bigger thighs and shoulders, etc., etc. It would have been more informative to see the judges results and that should be sufficient. If they all placed you last there is no need to ask how to improve.

Melvin posted several times that he was enterring and gave us a couple of updates along the way. He doesn't have much income so trains at home to save money. This explains just about everything. How is he going to grow using Pilates machines. This is surely being clueless in Sylva! When a dude has a lifestyle like Goodrum and processes information like he does then no one can help him. We are going to see more of the same in the future. A variation on mediocrity personified. Oh, I don't want to hurt his feelings or stop him from training but this self-styled internet legend is truly a nincompoop and buffoon of extraordinary quality. When delusional blokes continue to dream re winning titles they never achieve their goals and continue to blame conditions and other things for their lack of success. The guy is entertaining but he doesn't see himself as being amusing and therein lies the irony of it all.

Yes, horrible genetics but hard work will always prevail.  Just ask Dorian
WOW! The self delusion continues.
despite the improvement Vince was the worse competitor on the stage.

Got to love how the floatsam here pick up on this latest fiasco of Melvin and run with it, lol. I mean, here's a bloke who has been making more noise about his obscure competition more than most of the Mr Olympia competitors make. And then, when the times comes, what does he do but make a clown of himself yet again like the buffoon that he is. No, Melvin will never be given any respect with the way he is, even as a joke from the floatsam that post here.

I'd go on, but it's time for the schools here to finish for the day and my white, unmarked van is looking all perky from the detailing job I gave her over the weekend. I even hear that there is a strangers funeral being held about 20 minutes from here, that sounds too tempting to crash. Should I take the van out for a spin or should I just attend the funeral of the stranger? Either way, I'd be doing something more productive with my time than if I were to be talking about Melvin for yet another time.

I agree, i mean what is improved about him, giving him props is like saying he's gone from looking like a rotten turd to a stale turd, but no matter how you put it a turd is a turd ::)

He is leaner than he has been in the past.  Granted, he still looks like shit, but I think people are just acknowledging the difference.

Goodrum says he is 5'11" at 177 lbs.  He has no muscle whatsoever.  He is still soft as Vissy ass with at least 10% bodyfat to lose.  He continues to enter BB contests without lifting weights.  Sure he dieted down and lost some fat but so did all the people in concentration camps.  How in the hell can you enter a BB contest and not lifts weights.  He says he trains at home.  I bet he has been kicked out of every gym in his area that is why he trains at home.  There is a difference between having a positive attitude and just being ignorant and delusional.  He has NO qualities to make him a bodybuilder.  Not one.  He seriously has a mental problem.  He should have stuck to cleaning carpets.

Yeah, if you're a guy and you're not even as muscular as the girls who are winning NPC bikini competitions, you really need to not step on stage again until you've put on some muscle.  If being 'natural'  ::) is what you want, then you're simply going to have to devote a lot more time to growing, period.

I know not everyone's body - even with a test boost - is made for building muscle, but one must do that FIRST in order to be considered a 'bodybuilder'.  Only after you've actually put on some muscle can you then diet and step on stage without looking like a goddamn fool.

All this attention for little old me????;D

I think that some of you are upset that you would never have the balls to step onstage or perhaps you realize that I'm not that bad of a bodybuilder.

While its true that genetics is a factor in successful competition, its still just an excuse not to compete.  I hear so much whining about how I don't have the genetics to do blah, blah, blah....and more blah blah blah.

Feel free to use that for yourself but quite frankly, genetics don't mean shit to me because I know that if I keep training harder than other competitors then I will surpass them.

Genetics is no match for work ethic and if I keep putting the work in, it will pay off for me.

While I did not win, I did not make a fool of myself.  The only fools is the folks up here who's egos are based on internet post counts and try to give advice to people when they have never competed in their lifes.

Some of you may disagree but its my decision and your opinions don't mean shit to me.

Let's not get carried away just because you did a good job improving on your previous form - Stepping onstage doesn't automatically make you this really special piece of work that others can only dream of being - there are tons of guys who have never stepped onstage (including a handful that don't even work out), who look a lot better than you. In fact, guys like you and Billy Gumz have done nothing more than show everyone that anyone can compete in a bodybuilding contest, but that if you want to qualify and get some respect, you need to be in top shape.

Enjoy your offseason - hopefully you've got some nice munchies lined up.
