If "more control" is the liberal agenda then why has government been increasing in size with the exception of the Clinton years where it was downsized. Would republicans be just as guilty as wanting to control? Even during Reagan's attack on the bureaucracy federal government increased in size. Im confused...

Yes many republicans are guilty of expanding the size of the gov't, but the Democratic Party and liberals alike run on a platform of government intervention to solve social and economic problems. The Republican platform is SUPPOSED to be that of conservative principles...smaller government, protection of liberties and the economy by limiting government encroachment, free market solutions, things like that. That's not to say Republican politicians have done a great job of upholding those values. I believe there is not much difference in most politicians (at least the ones that matter), democrat or republican. They do more harm to our society than good it seems like.

I'm just saying domecrats/liberals are notorious for pushing the global warming issue.

A market solution isn't going to solve a problem of this grand scale unless of course you would like to let natural selection play out. There are piles of evidence supporting global warming just as there are pile of evidence in support of evolution. You can stick to your conspiracy theories but don't bring the rest of us down. Lets say there is no global warming. What is wrong with creating millions of jobs and creating new technologies that run on cheaper energy? You would rather stick to fuels that dump mercury into our oceans, kill on specie diversity, and pollute our air? Where is the logic.... im not seeing a rational decision here on your part. I am seeing a mind clouded with ideology and hatred.

It's not some crazy, unique conspiracy theory. It's a very mainstream and popular belief. I do not believe our carbon emissions are affecting the atmosphere and I do not believe there is anything "unnatural" currently occurring.

There's nothing wrong with developing technologies to enhance our power independence and unveil cleaner, more efficient kinds of energy. This is good. I have a problem when you try to put people into a "state of emergency" mentality, in order to pass a bunch of bogus bills and provisions that infringe upon the life of the individual and give the government more means to expand and take over.

We have not been around that long, and to think our few hundred or so years of excessive waste with the industrialization of society is enough to put the great earth in shambles is a bit over-the-top.

Thank you... i stopped reading there. Belief is accepting something as fact without evidence. Just as jesus is a belief, just as the tooth fairy and santa clause are beliefs, and just as the mumba jumba at the bottom of the ocean is a belief. The republicans are nothing more then a party of whiners and contrarians and will go against any group of people even if rational and logical. See Dick Cheney and torture. This comes back to the smoking argument. See, i think it is wrong that people/ businesses who pollute infringe upon ability to breath clean air or drink clean water. Shouldn't i have that right? You have to understand rights don't exist and they are something created by man to improve the quality of life. You don't have a right to anything. In this case people will fight tooth and nail to improve their quality of their life.

Belief is the fall, don't take it. I can't honestly say I know what to believe, or even just favor, on this issue. What I feel and what the media exclaims are two different things. Global Warming is clearly more of a political debate than a scientific one. We were putting our heat on a few days ago here in new york. So then I hear about this Global Cooling. And then supposedly the sun is getting hotter, and they can see that the other planets are also experiencing climate change, but I don't necessarily believe that since I know we have only been able to monitor that sorta thing a few short decades.

Your responsibility is to control the climate of your own consciousness, if anything.

I was simply contradicting your statement of my "global warming is bullshit" idea being some wild conspiracy by calling it more mainstream than you make it seem to be.

Most politicians are as you describe Republicans. You just favor one party, and more importantly, the people associated with it. Most politicians are scumbags no matter what party they say they belong to. I just simply like the platform of the Republican Party.

Clean energy solutions sounds good to me, when they actually come up with one that's effective. Until then, let's use the best resource we have thus far - fossil fuels. We are not running out any time soon. We will not live to see the day they are depleted from the earth, nor will our children, and nor will our children's children. Not only have we not even come close to tapping into every discovered oil reserve, but we have not even discovered every source of oil. Does this mean we should forget about finding a viable alternative? No, we should actively seek one. Just don't tell me I need to panic and therefore adhere to any government regulation placed upon me. That's how we got into the Iraq War - people panicked, were sold on the idea that terrorists actively threatened America's security (they do, but because of our foreign involvement, not because we are a free nation), and therefore supported the war along with the Patriot Act.

Listen, you're not a bad guy as you obviously simply care about the environment. I know someone like myself can come off as a real douche by blurting out "global warming is bullshit", especially nowadays, but I truly believe our Earth can sustain itself perfectly in the midst of human industrialization. I don't think the recently recorded alterations in the global temperature is due to us. Let's just agree to disagree.

You cannot be serious. We're around 6.7 billiard people on earth and 1.5 billiard start to use as energie as the american do.

Okay? I repeat: I do not think humans are significant enough to alter the global climate of the earth.

Major cities resemble mold on bread. Humans are definitely making a bad impact. We can argue that we are not messing up the world in the long run but we are able to get caught up in our own messes. We're still cutting down rain forests, depleting the oceans with miles long nets, we don't have a solid plan on waste management, we wage war over who controls the world's oil, and this is all going to catch up with us. Notice how these are all human issues.
