Modern cops are weaklings, incompetent weaklings.

The punisher in me, felt that she deserved it,
but the cop made a very bad choice.

For me and some of my strong friends, controlling a non trained man is very easy.

just by holding his wrist, I can move him around, put him down, or put on some controlled
pressure to make him paralyzed in pain.

I can even make a phone call at the same time with my other hand.

A 72y old lady should be as easy to control as a baby.
If the cop could not control a baby he would tase the baby as well?(If he knew he could get away with it)

A non incompetent cop would move the retarded old lady away from the lane,
as easy as you move an infant.

Like Laura said the taser could have killed her.

So the police can use force to get you to put your signature on a piece of paper? I'll calling shananagan's.. Why on earth did this cop need her signature so badly...Just give her the ticket...Silly...Her lawyer is going to have a field day with this...

What if she said " I don't sign anything without my lawyer looking at it first"?

All signing the ticket is, is a conformation that it was given to you and that you understood what it was for and why it was given....it's really not that big of a deal....except when it's made into one.

And....he wasn't using force to make her sign the ticket...he decided to use force to get her to comply with what he was asking for...in this case, getting out of the road and becoming increasingly non-complient.

So if this was your mother or grandmother (at age 72), you would still agree with the cop and say "Mom/Grandma, I'm sorry but you deserved to be tazered because you weren't compliant"?  Or how about Tash?  When she's 72 and non-compliant when issued a speeding ticket and the cop tazers her...will you be alright with that?   Hell, I bet you'd throw down if she was tazered at the young age she is right now.

A tazer should NEVER be used on an elderly person, no matter the situation (leaving out holding a gun to someone's head, etc) because there is a good possibility that their hearts can not take it.  That cop could have easily taken that woman by the wrist and escorted her to the other side of the road stating he was going to arrest her.  He already shoved her so it's not like he was afraid to touch her.  He chose the cowards way out and tazed her.  I would be suing the police department for unnecessary force.

My mother would never act in such a way as to invite the threat of escalating force...

He did take her by the wrist....a number of times. Then she decided to start acting like she was 20 again...

First off, did you watch the same video as the rest of us.  The first contact he made in that video was shoving her back.  She counters back "oh you're gonna shove a 72 year old woman?" and he responds that he will.  He also orders her to the ground, she DOES comply by dropping to her knees and then he tazers her, then while she withering in pain he tells her if she, a 72 year old which I imagine has arthritis, to put her hands behind her back or he will tazer her again.

You said your mother would never act in a way as to "invite" the threat of escalated force.  I didn't see any "invitation" to use brutal force in that clip.  There was no threat to that officer's life where he should feel the need to subdue a 72 year old woman with a tazer.  If he really felt like she could do bodily harm to him...he needs to turn in his badge because this isn't the job for him.  Like someone else in this thread said...there was a time when police didn't carry tazers.  What if this happened with these two individuals then?  Would the cop have shot her?  Pulled out his club and beat her over the head?

My father was a police officer and my ex-husband's a police officer.  Neither could even fathom the idea of tazering a 72 year old unless there was a knife up against someones throat by the 72 year old and if they could...I would be as equally disgusted with them.

People like you are to blame for the hideous police state we now find ourselves in.
THUG!

How?  How about the fact that they are on the side of the road and she is constantly flailing about and walking out toward the open lane of traffic as cars are going by at 60 MPH??

All it takes is ONE person not paying attention while they're texting to sideswipe the stopped cars, or get close enough to pick off the lady/ officer or both...

You have shown yourself to be the clueless fat fuck that you are

Yes, I seen the same video...and what you DONT see are the events that led up to the portion of the video you DO see.

You ask what would have happened if he wasn't carying a taser?   Simple...he would have given the same command, she would have responded in the same way...he would have physically taken her down...and the same people crying "foul" would be saying the same thing..."He didn't have to get physical..." etc.  I'm sure she would be hurt and suing the police dept...as usual.

You miss the most basic point of the ordeal...had she simply signed the ticket...none of the rest takes place...as the hundereds of other motorists that day did.

they always say ''pussy cop couldnt handle it himself''... well had this guy tried to detain her physically she would have gotten hurt..

none of you know shit aside from chick.. ive detained hundreds if not thousands of people in my day.. not one of them didnt try to fight back in the process which gets them more hurt.. the tazer puts an end to all of it.

A decent mother/grandmother, at any age, wouldn't be acting like this old bat.  He should have short armed clotheslined her into the ditch.

She brought the action on herself by not following th command of the officer...it was by the book 100%

By the book 100%...

Let me ask you a strictly hypothetical question...

If there is a law that says that Jews 72-year old women should be shipped off to extermination camps - would that also be – by the book?

Did anybody bother to watch the video that polyunsaturated posted?  The old bag kept saying "I'm gettin back in my truck" and not obeying the officer.  He attempted to cuff her, but old granny-grunt wouldn't comply.  I say give him an award for bravery.

Seriously, there are some things that you just don't do.  Yes, she was mouthy to him and deserved to be detained and/or arrested but not tazed.  The whole video is available if you google, although I found they all have a few seconds here and there "removed".  But if you watch "what has been provided BY THE POLICE" you can clearly see he shoves her back because she's just a little too close to him. He states in his police report that he did so to get her out of the line of traffic, but you can see in the video that isn't true.  He doesn't say "look move to the other side of the vehicle so we don't get hit by oncoming traffic. He then starts calling her behavior in over his walkie and she's trying to get dispatch to hear her say "help 72 year old needs assistance".  That's when he decides to put the cuffs on her and she pulls away, he threatens to taze her, she says "go ahead I dare ya" and then says "I'm getting back in my car" be blocks her and says no you're not and she says/tries again.  He pushes her back again and takes out the tazed.  She stops dead in her tracks and he tazed her.  Then while face down on the ground he tells her repeatedly to put her hands behind her back or he'll taze her again, of which she keeps saying she's trying.  SHE'S 72 freakin years old, probably with arthritis and he wants her to be able to lie face down and hold her hands behind her back...after being shocked???   Did this officer really feel like this woman could over power him to the point he couldn't gain control without stunning her?

I'd like to know what all the missing minutes were.

I think had he told her to get out of the car and move to the other side of the vehicle for their protection so they wouldn't get hit by oncoming traffic, she probably would have gone.  I don't condone the fact that she swore at him and gave him shit, but this guy was clearly not in the right to taze this 72 year old woman.  That was extreme force and most police don't even use it when chasing a burglary, drug or murder suspect.  They run them down, tackle them and if they don't comply at that point they tazer (unless of course the suspect has a knife or some other kind of weapon other than a gun).
