Miss California USA's executive director says the pageant would never try to silence new titleholder Tami Farrell's stance against gay marriage.

Keith Lewis told The Associated Press on Friday that he wants all of the beauty contestants he deals with to be able to voice their opinions as long as they don't violate their contracts.

Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, who was given a second chance earlier, lost her title Wednesday after Lewis said she skipped pageant events while speaking out against gay marriage during unsanctioned appearances.

In a television interview Thursday, Farrell said she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. But she added: "I don't think I have the right or anybody has the right to tell somebody who they can or can't love."

Prejean says she was dethroned because during the Miss USA pageant she said gays shouldn't be allowed to marry.

Prejean's been on TV most of the week. She was on "Hannity" Wednesday night, followed by "Fox and Friends" (for the third or fourth time in the last month), as well as the "Today" show Thursday and "Larry King Live" Friday.

Per her interviews on "Today" and "Fox and Friends", she asked, point blank, what were these so-caleld appearances that she missed that warranted her dismissial.

On her "Today" interview, she states that (prior to the Miss USA controversy) she'd done all of two appearances, claiming that, per Keith Lewis' words, her top priority was NOT appearance but winning the Miss USA paegant.

She asked if she could appear at events like the Special Olympics. In fact, she was on her way there, when she got the news that she'd been stripped of her crown. Lewis didn't even had the nads to fire her to her face or by phone. An entertainment reporter, named Billy Bush, asked Prejean what her comments were about this situation. She had no idea to what he was referring. Bush later told her that she'd been dethroned.

Lewis was on the "Today" show and on Larry King and NOT ONCE did he mention by name any of the appearances that Prejean supposedly missed. However, Prejean claims that Lewis told her of an offer to pose for Playboy for $140,000 (which she immediately refused). And, there's this thing about wanting her to appear at a gay movie premiere, incognito.

This may all have to do with something I mentioned about a month ago: That "Diversity" PSA that Lewis had in the works. Lewis, as you know is gay, and is trying to use this as a springboard to rally support, perhaps for the 2010 attempt to re-legalize gay "marriage" in California. Shanna Moakler, who quit after the first press conference when Prejean was supposed to stay, also supports gay "marriage". They wanted the beauty queens to participate. So, it's a bit disheartening (to say the least) when your lead girl is doing promos for National Organization for Marriage and Focus on the Family.

In short, it appears that Lewis "trumped" up some breach of contract to have Prejean axed. But, a number of people ain't buying it. This was all about the gay "marriage" stuff.

Larry King: You've had a couple of days now, Carrie, to think it all over and it's sunk in. What are your feelings today?

Carrie Prejean: I'm definitely a little bit surprised just by the way that I found out about this. You know, I was called by the media to inform me that I was fired.

King: Are you saying the pageant didn't call you?

Prejean: No. I haven't received any phone calls. In fact, my lawyer found out from the media, as well, before we received any contact. I still have not, to this day, received any contact from Mr. Lewis.

King: Now, since they were so supportive of you at the time and after the Trump announcement, what do you make of the fact that they didn't call you?

Prejean: Well, I think Mr. Trump was definitely in the middle. And I think that, you know, he has only heard one side.

Ultimately, at the end of the day, you have to think about, Are you going to release Mr. Keith Lewis or are you going to release Carrie Prejean? I think that they had to release the beauty queen at the end of the day.

King: How do you respond to (charges from Lewis)?

Prejean: Well, Larry, all I can tell you was this basically comes down to the answer that I gave the night of the pageant. As you can see, Mr. Lewis does not agree with the stance that I took. I think he's very angry. I think he's hurt. He said in a previous statement that he's deeply saddened and hurt that -- what Carrie Prejean believes in -- a marriage is between a man and a woman. Politics and religion have no play in the Miss California family.

My question is, then why was the question asked at the pageant in the first place? If politics has no role in the pageant, why was I given this question?

It was a hidden personal agenda that judge No. 8 asked, and I think that they were not ready for my answer that I gave.

King: Let's say they were upset by your remarks. They didn't like your answer. Why didn't they just tell  Donald Trump », we're unhappy and let's pick the runner-up or whatever?

Prejean: He absolutely did. I mean Keith Lewis held a press conference in Los Angeles and didn't invite me to the press conference and, you know, awarded the first runner up as the new ambassador of California. That is just undermining me and undermining his own titleholder from day one. 

As far as the other appearances, I've had some inappropriate appearances that Keith Lewis has asked me to do. And I'm sure you're aware of them already -- one of them being Playboy; another one being a reality show which is being filmed in Costa Rica. So had I said yes to these, I mean, I would have been out of the country.

Again, Playboy, I couldn't believe. I was completely shocked that he would even pass this along to me. Another one was a gay movie premiere that he wanted me to attend incognito. He actually said he wanted me to wear a hat and go in disguise and attend this movie premiere promoting gay marriage and then come out with a statement the next day saying that Carrie Prejean attended a gay movie premiere.

It just doesn't seem right, Larry, does it?

The TV show in question, from Costa Rica, was "I'm A Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here", with such lovely folks as former Illinois govenor, Rod Blagoivich (sp?).

Here's what I don't get: After all the mess about those so-called "nude" pics of Prejean and the gay "marriage" flap, WHY ON EARTH would Lewis even entertain the idea of Prejean's posing for Playboy and a gay movie premiere, unless.........

Yet, to this day, neither Keith Lewis nor Shanna Moakler can state which appearances she supposedly missed.

What's even funnier is that the number of appearances at which Prejean balked has increased throughout the week. First, it was 20; then, it was 30, and now (on last night's "Geraldo at Large", with Kimberly Guifoyle subbing for Geraldo), Lewis claimed that Prejean only did one appearance out of FIFTY-THREE, where she was scheduled to appear. AsPrejean has stated, how does any one woman do that many appearances (53) in a mere three weeks?


Prejean's lawyer quickly cut Lewis' claims to pieces, stating that he could name at least 6 appearances that she was slated to do in which she did indeed show up, including two appearances on Fox and Friends (as requested by Donald Trump) and a visit of Navy troops on the USS Ronald Reagan. She had just finished another booking in Vegas and was on her way to another gig, when Billy Bush called her and told her that the Lewis had fired her.

Lewis didn't even have the decency to fire her to her face, or even over the phone directly. And, Prejean's lawyer mentioned that NOT ONCE did Lewis call him, complaining about Prejean's supposed no-shows.

All of this adds up to Lewis' canning her, because of his personal beef with Prejean, not only for her answer at the Miss USA (after which he blasted Prejean, claiming "Religion and Politics have no place in the Miss California USA family") but her doing promos for the National Organization for Marriage, which undermines his "Diversity" PSA deal, particularly as it relates to his trying to help re-instate gay "marriage" in California.

I haven't been following this issue as closely as some, but in one of the articles I read, the contest officials said it wasn't one thing it was a series of things, including the missed appearances. Trump was behind her, at least publicly, but he gave his blessing when contest officials requested Prejean's dismissal. I'll be the first to admit Trump may have had ulterior motives in throwing his support behind her. I also read some quotes from a woman who owned a modeling agency Prejean was previously signed with. She claimed the beauty queen was difficult to work with and there were issues with professionalism, which resulted in her being let go from the agency.

I hope this leads to a whole new line of questioning for beauty pagent contestants.  I'd like to know the new Miss California's thoughts on the budget crisis in our state or the election results in Iran or the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.   I'm sure there are a few intelligent girls in these shows but you know most of the answers would sound like this:
