Hydrostatic bodyfat testing cost?
« on: June 17, 2009, 11:58:56 PM »

My gym wants $50 for the first one, $40 for subsequent tests.

That seems high to me.

What have you guys paid?

Sounds like a fairly typical price. Most accurate bodyfat test there is.

I'd pay for it once, doing it regularly doesn't really seem necessary.
No doubt about it...

Indeed, mirrors are free and measuring tape is only $0.99 (if you use the circumference method, often done in the military to estimate bodyfat).

go to a university's human performance lab and they will either test you for free or charge you 10 bucks

I used to work at teh lab at my uni when I was getting my degree and often tested volunteers for free

College/ university tends to be the most inexpensive way. You might want to try the Bodpod. The university I use got rid of their hydrostatic and now use the Bodpod and charge less for that.

Dexa scan is actually more accurate but probably a little harder to find.  That does seem a little pricey.  Like the guys said, just go to a university and get it done.
Come get me.
