as a result of this well-publicized case, there are thousands of people who will turn off their sharing the next day.

it's a deterrant that will work on some people.  Record companies make $ from this verdict, even though she'll neverp ay a dime.

And personally, I download for 99 cents with I-tunes.  You don't have to worry about viruses.  I used to use bearshare, limewire, winMX even.

Really?  I have a hard time buying that.  Software companies like to make the same claim: they count every pirated copy of their software as a lost sale and then go on to claim they have lost hundreds of millions to illegal copying, but as someone who routinely copies software I can tell you that if copying were not possible and I had to choose between legitimately buying or doing without, I would do without 90% of the titles I have copied.  Just because I copied a piece of software (or a music file) doesn't mean I would have legitimately purchased it otherwise.  In most cases, it is something I didn't really need and would never have purchased.

The same is true for music files.

Is this really a SONY suit?  I used to train one of the top lawyers of Sony about a year ago right here in NJ.  I believe she had a house in NJ that was built for her but spent most of her time in NYC.  She wasnt too pleasant to be around and thought very highly of herself.  I remember asking her if she ever thought of coaching gymnastics for kids (since she had a background) and she said "what the heck for im rich".  My response was "uhhh i coached wrestling for years for FREE just wanting to help kids and enjoy their progress/success"......some people just dont get it.  Sounds like the type of person who would run a law suit like this

Whos stealing! I'll tell you whos stealing, the fatcat rich music companies and artists charging ridiculous sums for a 20c CD and 30 minutes work.  I dont see PINK and other famous recording artists doing it tough.  FUCK SONY and the rest of the monopoly screwing the poor majority into the ground.  Matthew 5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."  Too right we will, via the INTERNET and torrent sites

Exactly.

Who the fcuk are doing the stealing?

I don't see the fat record companies making all the songs.

Yet they are making big bucks when an artist sells their songs.

What's right about that?

These companies has monopolized the music industry, now they're afraid that their times are coming to an end.

Fcuk those fat companies I say.

I've stated in a different post that I have no problem coughing up money for live gigs, and spending money on music per se.

But I rather make sure all the cash gets to the band, without a big fcuking chunk landing in the pockets of fat record company owners who doesn't do diddley for the artists.

Thanks.  That reminds me, I need to download a few tracks of Limewire. ;)
It's laughable that the music industry is crying about copyrights.  I should sue them for producing the trash I've heard for the past fucking decade. :-\

LOL, That would be great, a countersuit from her claiming the music she downloaded is fuckin shite and she wants some corperate suit to explain in a courtroom why.

Now that i would pay to see (or just download it from youtube)  :D

Haha.  You got it.  These corporate pig bitches are flipping out, trying to figure out how to contain this "problem".  Things are trending toward giving the artists more control over their destiny, and the worthless middlemen can't stand it.

I mean, throwing darts at a map and using gangs of lawyers on some random person, followed by a corporate-media "blitz" to make the most of it (but only revealing the utter stupidity of it all), is the best tactic they've got.

Time to rearrange your scam, gentlemen.  It ain't working anymore.

Yes, so true.  It's a typical corporate game: writing false shit down on paper and assigning real value to it.

The entertainment industry is doomed anyway. Few years from now all record companies, movie companies and video game producers are broke. You'll make so lil money with that stuff that nobody will do this to himself anymore.

The internet is teh devil, an invention many wish could be revoked. But it's too late, it took over the world within few years and basically made any other form of media unnecessary (TV, books, newspapers, CDs, DVDs,...)

Why would you have to worry about viruses anyway, all you are downloading is the .mp3 extension? Its the people who run executables from Limewire who need shooting.

My only regret is that my download cap is 120 gigs a month :(

there's only so many divx movies and whole band discographies that I can download with that cap... that's why I usually don't download Blu Ray movies, unless it's a really good title!

Bahhhh...my ass... I have single handedly supported the movie studios and RIAA for over 20 years..

I have over 650 original cd's , and about 800 dvd's, so they can suck my balls... besides what I download usually is digital copies of what I already own, cause Im too lazy to rip cd's and dvd's to my ipod or laptop (like wathing movies on flights)

:)

with my aproximate calculations I've put aprox.  $14,625 in CD sales in the RIAA's pocket and another $22,400
in movies/dvd's into the movies studios...not to mention the amount of times I've gone to the theatre to see a new movie... so they can suck my balls.
