Gallup: Obama job approval same as Bush's
Gallup reports that, despite widespread media efforts to pump up the volume, Barack Obama's approval numbers have dropped to, statistically, the same level as George W. Bush's at the same points in their presidencies.
Gallup latest daily tracking shows the Big O's approval rating at 57%, compared to 55% for George W. Bush in late June 2001--a statistical dead heat. O's disapproval stands at 35%, whereas Bush's disapproval was only 33%. Both Bush and Obama are well ahead of Bill Clinton's approval rating of 39%--with 50% disapproval--at a similar period.
So, despite fawning press coverage, Barack Obama's approval rating is virtually identical to George Bush's at similar points in their terms.
Conclusion? Despite the media volume, Obama's approval ratings are about average for this point in a presidency as Gallup's charts show.
