What is the point of figure competitions?

I do not get the point of figure competitions. Aren't they simply described in the words of Big Croatch, "Congratulations! You've discovered clenbuterol and implants!" Certainly they all have that clenbuterol-and-implants look.

Or are figure contests for the ladies who do not want to take as much test as the female bodybuilders?

really, as is this entire "sport", its just about money.....

the more "normal" or "mediocre" people they (npc) can attract, the more revenue they generate...

face it....most people who work out, cant honestly say they would not like to look like a bodybuilder(maybe not the freaks of today, but the smaller "fitness" looking ones)...and all girls wanna be lean and "HOT" as they like to put it....

so the addition of these classes to npc allows those who are otherwise unwilling or unable (notice i said unwilling OR unable) to bodybuild the opportunity to don the tan and suit and get on stage....

more people on stage = more npc members ($)
more people on stage = more promoter entry fees ($)
more people on stage = more family and friends in audience ($)
more people on stage = more recognition of npc in and of itself

those of us who have competed for years, see it as a cop out for those who just aint got what it takes, or arent willing to do the work....but then again we are somewhat biased as well...

fuck it..to each their own...i just dont like that it makes to shows too damn long for us REAl competitors..LOL

A Figure competition is the way the NPC was to tap into the Bikini contests.  Sex sells and what better way to have a bikini contest but call it something fancier.
