If their country was so shitty that they left everything behind to come here, why would they flaunt it with pride? The worst, I think, is the US born people whose families have been here for generations, but they have the nerve to say I'm Italian or Irish, etc. and fly that country's flag, even though they've never been there. The actual Irish and Italian don't consider them one of their own, they consider them to be American.

A new immigrant coming to the US and flying a native country flag isn't the most respectful thing. We'd hope the people that come here are excited about being here and being a part of the U.S. I think it points to the larger issue of some immigrants coming here and not wanting to assimilate or be proud of being an American.

Agreed, flying both flags is cool.

Many of them immigrate to western countries for the handouts, the social security, to live off the dole, to get jobs, to get away from civil wars, to get better lives and educations for their children, to get the passport of a western country (which greatly facilitates travel) etc

Many of them assimilate and contribute to their new countries, but some refuse to assimilate and refuse to contribute, they think the new country owes them everything and they can be ungrateful bastards.

Just look at the nutcase Muslims who blew up the buses in London. Britain gave them everything, yet the ungrateful bastards didn't think that was good enough.

If you don't believe in it then don't do it. Problem solved. I doubt your life is so well run that you are qualified to decide what other people should and should not be allowed to do. There is nothing wrong with flying the flag of one's home country in the USA, but it is bad form (and I believe illegal) to fly a foreign flag above the U.S. flag when the two banners are flown together on the same or separate poles.

The United States is technically a social democracy. We have Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Trade and Labor Unions, we promote social and civil rights around the World, etc, etc, etc,.

You have to have a blend of different ideals. Total Capitalism would lead to The United States ( brought to you by Wal-Mart ) and a total Socialism State would turns us into China. Well maybe that's not a bad thing.

Labor Unions have been around for well over 200 years; hardly a defining factor of a social democracy.

honestly, who cares? I'm pretty "conservative" in most things but who are they harming. My only problem is immigrants not learning English when they come here. I wouldn't go to France and not learn French. They should stop with all the Telemundo crap and force them to learn the language, like our ancestors had to.
