Being tall is a good crutch, it carries status and allows untalented individuals to succeed in our society.  In and of itself though I would say it's a curse, the tall are less attractive, less athletic, and more prone to injury. 

So to answer your question, yes, I respect them tremendously because to overcome the handicap of height to be MORE in shape then me is quite a feat.
