I agree. I get tired of fighters avoiding slams by holding on to that damn fence.

The ring is much better.

The ring sucks!  They constantly have to pause the fights and reset the fighters in the middle.  And, it reminds me of a boring boxing match.  There's something to getting locked in cage and going at it until someone ends the fight.

I am more tired of what's in the Octagon, the USA Team on TUF was weak.  We have better fighters in the State of Texas than what I saw on the show.

That isn't as bad as a fighter pinning another fighter against the cage and doing some lay and pray for 2/3 of a round.

That shit sucks.

Some people prefer to watch two guys stand up and slug it out with no defense until one drops.  I prefer to watch highly skilled mixed martial artists employ all their weapons with as little rules/interference as possible...

There is no skill in laying on top of a man pinned up against the cage and not working for something.

I'm not talking about the fight hitting the mat and two guys fighting for a submission, I'm talking about when the guy in the dominant position does nothing but stall on the ground with help of the cage.

What does that have to do with cage vs ring?

You can't pin someone against the ropes and "LayandPray" like you can against the cage.

That's makes no sense.  If your goal is to lay & pray on someone, you'll keep them away from the cage walls because they can be used to either flip someone over into a full mount or to inch your way up to your feet.

That might not be such a bad idea... an octagon out of 1" thick plexiglass supported by steel padded pillars
would rock! at  least you'd be able to see everything from any angle and not deal with the stupid mesh of the cage.

Well I'm picturing the top would be open like the regular UFC octagon so there would still be air coming in from above.

the clear plexiglass octagon was discussed by the ufc and the mma fans around 8 years ago or so and they( ufc) decided to stay with the fence, i voted for the clear plexiglass myself cause when your sitting close to the octagon its hard as hell to see the action through the fence. thats why i tell the guys that are going to a live ufc for the first time to walk away from the octagon to where the seats just start to elavate up that slight ramp, then count around 20 rows or so and your set. its the most perfect view your gonna get imo, trust me, i learned the hard way

I would have to do disagree. I love being by the cage, for the last event we did and the one coming up July 24th we have media seats right next to the cage and I think those are the best  seats in the house. UFC doesnt offer these seats though, I mean I am so close to the cage that we stick the camera lens through the damn thing.. Love these seats, blood can get on you, you hear things, plus we always get to sit next to a judge, so I get to help pursuade his judgement ha-ha...
