Who is this woman?  I saw the interview live.  Talk about an arrogant liberal.  Amazing how elitist some of these people can be.   ::)

Talk about an arrogant liberal.

wait, is this the same liz Trotta who said some awful shit about obama?

Controversy
On May 25, 2008, Trotta expressed on Fox News an apparent desire that presidential candidate Barack Obama be assassinated prior to the 2008 United States presidential election.[3][4][5] While speaking about Hillary Rodham Clinton's reference[6][7] to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination, Trotta said:

"... and now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama. Um, uh,Obama. Well, both, if we could."[8]

Trotta apologized the next day.[9] A petition for the firing of Trotta was soon up on Care2.[10][11]

On 5 October 2008, Trotta referred to Sarah Palin's Downs syndrome baby as an inanimate object; she said that Palin was "dragging it around", insinuating that Palin was using her baby to garner sympathy.

Okay.  And?

You called her an arrogant liberal, didn't you?

Sounds like she has equal hate for both sides of the aisle.

O.K.  My bad.  If she is equal opportunity, or even if she is a conservative, it's still an arrogant attitude, often associated with liberals.

Im not sure how you can really disagree with the woman though. Palin is not well educated and not articulate. Is she hot? yes, did she use that to her advantage? absolutely.

Not really where politics in the worlds most powerful nation should be headed if you ask me

I absolutely disagree.  She is "well educated," because I'm pretty sure the majority of American adults are not college graduates.  She is also very articulate.  The fact she may have stumbled over questions in a couple of interviews does not make the woman inarticulate.  She is very well spoken.  She couldn't have worked in broadcast journalism if she wasn't.

One of the things that makes her a great speaker is it comes from the heart.  She's genuine.  She's someone who has pulled herself up by her bootstraps.  She identifies with the average American much more than many in D.C. and her values are more in line with American values than many in D.C.

Put her next to this man, people could only laugh at her:

Who cares?  I could name numerous people who are better speakers than Palin, but that does nothing to diminish the fact that she's a very good public speaker.

Yes and her foreign policy would be disasterous because of her stinging ignorance.

You have a strange idea of what constitutes 'good speaking'. I cannot for the life of me see how anyone thinks she is a very good public speaker.

Not strange at all.  She's smart.  She's honest.  She's genuine.  She works hard.  She's funny.  Those are some of the basic qualities of any good speaker.  You don't have to be fire and brimstone, have a great "speaking voice," etc. to present yourself well.  Audiences appreciate authenticity.  The fact she is physically attractive helps too.

Also, the woman just drew 20,000 in New York.  People come out in droves to hear her.  The media has been clamoring all over her for interviews since the election.

The other problem with Palin is that she is so divisive...people either love her or think she's the anti-christ. It is extremely difficult for a party to win elections with a candidate that only appeals to the base and polarises the electorate. I know we went over this before but I was watching an interview with Tony Blair yesterday, his exact words were, 'to win an election you have to move to the centre, if you only appeal to your base you're done for'. I would like to think with his record of pulling a party from the wilderness he's probably right. She's good at rallying the troops, but to win over the electorate she's going to have to change drastically, either that or read up quick on a few issues...her good looks won't last forever

Education has nothing to do with it, she needs about a year of good media training and foreign policy immersion. She could get both as a US senator. She needs work.

Fair points, but I don't think her values are polarizing at all.  There are visceral reactions to her, but I think most of those come from the far left, who will never vote for a conservative anyway.  Also, don't forget that she was voted by both Democrat and Republican governors as the most popular governor in the country.  Further, keep in mind that fiscal/social conservatives have been winning elections in this country for decades (Reagan twice, Bush Sr., and Dubya twice).

When you think about it, the extreme reaction to her is completely illogical.  She was thrust into the national spotlight by being asked to serve as VP.  She then just campaigned with McCain.  You would think the woman is an axe murderer if you listen to some of the drones that hate her.  I actually think it's comical (although the personal attacks against her family are pathetic).

as always, the people who on this board who have always championed Palin are oblivious to her many, seemingly increasing flaws.  Of course these people measure Palin against their own low personal standards and so seem truly baffled why others might find her inarticulate, divisive, dishonest, unprepared to lead, etc....   This will never change until their own personal standards change (which probably won't happen any time soon)

Palin's flaws have nothing to do with her resume. Because she has no advanced degree or from a school Obama got into because he was Black, have nothing to do with it. She's not very articulate with her messages. She repeats her messages verbatim from memory without working them into her own words. She is good at off the cuff remarks, but has a deer in the headlights look when dealing with some reporters. If she thinks she's getting ambushed, she turtles and resorts to her message list. Palin doesn't sound natural when she does that. If she had some good media prep over the next handful of years, along with more interviews, speeches...etc, she'll be fine.

Well . . . he did run a succesful campaign for president during the last two years of his unexpired Senate term.  And, according to him, running that campaign gave him valuable experience:

COOPER: And, Senator Obama, my final question -- your -- some of your Republican critics have said you don't have the experience to handle a situation like this. They in fact have said that Governor Palin has more executive experience, as mayor of a small town and as governor of a big state of Alaska.

What's your response?

OBAMA: Well, you know, my understanding is, is that Governor Palin's town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We have got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year.
You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.

So, I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute, I think, has been made clear over the last couple of years. And, certainly, in terms of the legislation that I passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina of how we handle emergency management, the fact that many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place as we speak, I think, indicates the degree to which we can provide the
kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.

http://blog.beliefnet.com/reformedchicksblabbing/2008/09/obama-running-campaign-counts.html

Isn't this an admission that he was focused on running his campaign and not his Senate duties during the last two years?
