depends what you find more exciting?

i.e. nz is better for fishing, seeing people less fortunate, skiing etc. aus will give you interesting wildlife, beaches, good weather

In what ways do you think the countries differ from each other?

NZ has awesome scenery, really beautiful country and friendly people, and great if you love rugby...but other than that its not a place where you want to live. Everything feels small town, and most kids either want to become rugby stars or failing that, move to australia.
Australia is a far better country if you want to spend more than a holiday there. Cities are big, sports are all well catered for, good gyms everywhere. Weather tends to be warmer...the only thing is the fucking bugs...millions of em everywhere!!

For me Australia is more exciting, cause New Zealand basically looks the same like Austria for the most part. ;D

In all seriousness, two of the most beautiful countries in the world.  Would love to visit them someday.

Both seem rather isolated from the world...

I wouldn't want to be in either for too long.

No doubt about it...

36 hour flights mate, that is insane. Longest for me was 15 hours.

I think both places look great and clean, very beautiful but they remind of the states too much.

No flight is that long. Sydney to Paris is 13 hours. Sydney to London is the longest flight, and that can be done in under 24 hours.

Like i said, sure it is longer, but to make that your sole reason against living here is kinda stupid.....
No doubt about it...

Actually there is an even bigger, more practical argument against living in Oz; you guys have some of the toughest immigration laws in existence. It would be almost impossible to get work there unless you REALLY had something to offer.

There are 'hot' jobs that they want.

I love London and the proximity and cheap flights to so many other fab cities, however, I would immigrate to NZ or Aus in a heartbeat.

Melbourne is an amazing city, phenomenal vibe.

I think once you have residency in one country, you can live and work in the other.

I think that both countries have a much more relaxed yet high standard of living and are highly condusive to artistic and academic pursuits.

It is good for you guys but it means that even if I wanted to test Oz out for a year, I probably couldn't.

I can't stand London, not even a huge fan of the UK. I can't say for sure but I don't think I could permanently more to either. I would miss the architecture, art and history that infuses the European landscape too much.

If you are interested in learning languages they are not very condusive, which I see as a problem for myself. For a year or so a place like Melbourne might be interesting though...if only to have said I have lived in Oceana.
