well, makes sense. im sure there are some planets out there with that capability...

but think about this..   some of the galaxies our hubble space telescope have looked at, are so far away...that the light from the galaxies is estimated to have had to have taken hundreds of millions of years to reach us... so when our telescope gives us a picture of that galaxy...we are looking at that galaxy as it was a few hundred million years ago. literally looking into the past.


so if some planet is watching us right now, they are millions and millions of years in the future.


 who knows....maybe in the future the people from earth traveled great distances and now they are on the other side of the galaxy looking back into their own past !  :D

That is right. To see the "past" you would have to be able to travel faster than the speed of light. Or do some kind of weird tricks with worm holes or something.  :P

no you dont!

you just need a telescope that can collect light from farther enough away, so that it has taken a significant amount of time for the light to reach us. thus, whatever picture we are seeing, is a picture that has been making its way towards us for quite some time. so its something that happened in the past.

this picture was taken just a few years ago from hubble, but the images you see in the picture are images from millions of years ago.

You don't have to travel faster than the speed of light, just know how to fold time creating worm holes.  Not inconceivable for an advanced civilization.
