MOST of the books posted here are total crap that only pseudo-intellectuals read and consider profound. In reality only a few of the books listed could ever "Change someone's life" and this is IF you read them right.

If you want a book that will change your life, you must read it correctly, and that book is "The Singularity is Near" by Ray Kurzweil.

Another suggestion would be "Demon Haunted World" by Sagan.

Kurzweils book = actually pretty good and interesting. No need to take everything in it for its face value.

Do you own many books by famous novelists, books with poems about flowers and such?

I like those books about how men can come in contact with their feelings and books with poems written by old people.

 ;D

Something by Wittgenstein perhaps?

Let's not get crazy now, I'm still trying to figure out at least 1% of "Critique of Pure Reason" and "Phenomenology of Mind". ;D
My days of intense philosophy reading are long gone, nowadays I'm way too lazy.

Stewart,

Karma is a belief system only, correct? I hate people who justify anything with saying karma's gonna return. Very dumb.

Stewart's Reply:

It is an illusion. If both parties understand why something happened and then release that energy, no further actions are necessary in any time period.

Karma is linear with time. Time is an illusion. Karma is an illusion

Neither snobbery or gaining friends is a science, and this book might give you new perspectives.

Serious answer, now, J. Read because it brings you pleasure, or it enriches your life, in some way. Don't read something because someone 'insists' you do, or because you feel incumbent to do so. And I have a great suspicion about 'self-help books. I think they probably do as much harm as good. If you're not a reader, that's fine, too. Life is short. Do what makes you happy.  :)
