First up, I love Indians (no racist), but when you're a telemarketer with a thick, non-American accent, your game had better be tight, because I'm probably going to fuck with you.
Guy calls up, says he's calling on behalf of Home Protection and Discover Enterprises, and then tells me my home phone number has qualified me to receive $100 voucher for Wal-Mart and another $100 voucher for selected gas stations.
I asked what the catch was and he said there's no catch.
Making a long story short, he asks, "You shop at Wal-Mart, right?" and I tell him, "No, but I'll go there if I've got free money to spend". That seems to stump him, because he doesn't understand why some people might not want to shop at Wal-Mart. He then asks, "Well, you buy gas at gas stations like Shell, AM-PM, BP, etc., right?" and I confirm that I do, in fact, buy gas.
He then asks whether I have a credit or debit card. Of course. "Well, these vouchers are free to you and we charge only a one-time processing and handling fee of $3.95 which can be paid by any plastic card with the VISA or MasterCard logo.
I tell him I'd prefer to pay C.O.D. and he says they 'used to accept' C.O.D., but had to stop because so many people would be away from home on vacations when the packages would arrive.
He attempts to push the issue, and I ask again what company he's with. By the time I get their name into Google, the line is already dead. lol
