Both men were once school teachers....and pro bodybuilders. As school teachers, they both were in situations where students got aggressive with them.

According to the Rambling Freak, Greg Valentino (who knows a guy who trained at the original Golds Gym in the 70's).....as a teacher Frank Zane was slapped across the face by a student and he did nothing.

Contrast that With Waller's approach.

Ken Waller had a student swing at him but Waller dodged the punch. Waller then grabbed the student and tossed his ass through a glass window!

Ken Waller = crazy redheaded badass

Just like "grounds keeper Willie" from The Simpsons

Valvalino was not training in Gold's in the 70's . . . that asshole was born August 5, 1960. Are you saying his G4P ass was in Golds when he was a teen?

Then I have more respect for Zane than Waller. Obviously neither kid was much of a threat.

Someone who keeps their cool and reads the situation is a better man than some hothead who flips out without thinking. That kid could have been disfigured, blinded, killed, etc. What a stupid, nasty thing to do. What did happen to the kid?

Get your reading straight. I never said that Greg trained in the 70's. I clearly stated above that Greg has a friend that trained at the original Golds. Read slower. It may or may not help you.

I've heard a lot of stories about Ken Waller's fighting and I think they came from a reliable source but I'm not 100% sure...what I heard was that he was no stranger to kicking ass.

I bet if Waller had time to think about it he may have acted different.....maybe a headlock until the kid calmed down. But I guess he just reacted because he didn't have time to think.

Zane is Mr control. Imagine being slapped in the face by a punk and doing nothing. That's control. Or fear. I'm not sure with him. Hard to say. But yes Zane is a classy guy. Articulate and well spoken.

Funny some of the opinions on Waller when in fact Arnold was at least as big an ahole both in the movie and in life. Waller was actually known for being a nice guy in the gym actually. Just goes to show what the masses will accept in the absence of real evidence. The guy has red hair therefore he's a hothead, etc.

In 1980 Schwarzie only talked tough at the olympia when Waller was there. No coincidence as Schwarzie was considered quite the pussy without his cronies around.

In one of the TV episodes of "the gym" from a few years back Zane appeared in venice and came across as a real drip to the owner of the gym and to most viewers i'd say. No personality whatsoever. Not retaliating to a punch thrown isn't necessarily any smarter.
