U.K hates winners
So true...there is such a support the underdog mentality. People who win are sneered at, or envied and put down.
FFS when the British Cycling team cleaned house at the Olympics dickheads were writing that our dominance was a bad thing and might ruin the sport and upset people. CAN YOU EVER IMAGINE THE AUSSIES SAYING THAT? they'd be 'yep 20 years more of the same please, screw what anyone else thinks'
I get so tired of reading about how our brave and battling sportsman finish third or fourth or whatever...I don't care, for a country with as much funding and depth of talent as there is in Britain, particularly for football, it is not brave and battling to lose, it's a disgrace.
Really wish the mentality would change, seems to have been made even worse by all this reality tv crap that basically tells average brain dead idiots that they can get on TV and become famous for doing nothing. There was a recent survey done of kids who when asked what they wanted to be said 'a celebrity'...jeez I wanted to be a pro footballer, or a top rugby player, or failing that a fireman...something really wrong in a country when your kid tells you their dream is to be a celebrity
