Nothing they go through this every year.  Typically they slump late before getting hot for the playoffs.

No, they are built for the playoffs.   Remember when the Yankees got hot last year (while the sox slumped) and then got bounced?  The Sox have deeper and better pitching - imo. 

smoltz has been a disapointment as of late..

He's no good.  I'd get rid of him....they have Penny, Wake (when he gets healthy) and Dice K will be back in Sept.  Also, they can bring Buckholz up from the minors.

Not much for me to say.  The Redsox have led the AL East for most of the year and they are going through a tough stretch.  However, they have the depth and the pitching to win the world series.  Lastly, where were all you guys last month?  Or the month before that?  Or the month before that? Not trying to be smart, just wondering.  Yankees fans only seem to show up two times a season latley.

sox have good starting pitching,but the bullpens are even now,yankees lineup can and will outhit/score on any body.they lead on every offensive category or top 2 .sox problem is smoltz,dice k is not going to factor at least against yankees he throws too many pitches like joba,and now arm is getting tired.bay is great player but he's cold and papi is not getting hot for any period of time this yr.i'm a yankee fan but i'm realistic bosox are going to go toe to toe till the end.

The sox have a better bullpen top to bottom - imo.  Pap, Bard, Masterson, Oki - etc.  The sox pitching is also stronger.  When Clay Buckholz is your reserve guy, you know you've got some flexability.

The Sox can afford to test Smoltz. That's why they are letting him lose games.  Dice K won 18 games last year.  He will be a factor when he comes back HEALTHY.

Plus Wake is hurt, Dice K is out and Smoltz is stinking it up right now.  All that and they are only 2 games out of first place in Augest.  They will rebound and get hot come playoff time.  I expect them to take the east.

Agreed, I said this back in May.  I expect the yankees to get bounces in the first round due to their pitching.
