Exactly. Thing is, these fads always cater to the dumb amongst us. I can kind of understand why teenagers and shit, would be on MySpace (and such). But fucking adults? 
well basically these things are websites for dummies who dont know how to create their own webpage to show off their passions skills in something etc...
Before it only people with enough html coding skills etc were able to build their crapy webpages nobody cared about.
It's also interesting to notice how it's all about vanity and showing off, people just post pics of themselves posing and with bullshit stories 1000000 miles far from their reality. It's all about pretending to be someone you arent just using pictures ant texts. It only promotes egocentrical behaviors more than anything else.
Very very few people use these "services" to promote something interesting or useful, like art , creative stuff etc compared to the sheer number of people who only use em to bragg about themselves and what they want you to believe about their life.
all in all if you look ugly on your pic, nobody cares about reading more about your life, unless you re a creative person that makes music etc, and if you're good looking, desperate people will masturbate on your pics and try to date you.
