In all seriousness what is the gym scene like in Bangkok??
I plan on maybe buying up a gym there in maybe 10yrs or so and living it out there
In Bangkok, there's some very cheap gyms in Lumpini Park that have some very stacked guys there, then there's multi-million dollar gyms full of the usual suspects pants. There's little in between & to be honest, hundreds of Cybex Machines, plenty of free weights & with air conditioning isn't such a bad thing when it's 40c outside.
What there isn't (in Bangkok) is a hardcore gym that can actually make money. You'd be looking more at Pattaya where a lot of guys go to cycle (and work out their sexual aggression). The gym that DJ was involved with there has basically died a death & now it's Tonys gym (the one with the Muay Thai gym attached) on 2nd road that is the most serious gym for BBers.
There's also a pretty good complex called "Fairtex" in Pattaya which has pro Tennis coaches, pro Muay Thai coaches etc & will do a full package including all meals for those dieting down or bulking up. I have a friend who became a pro in her sport through a 6 month stay at Fairtex.
The downside of Pattaya is that it's the sex tourist capital of the world and is basically a shit hole. Bangkok, whilst a shite hole to a lesser extent, is still a place where you can live a relatively sane life.
I'd say that any name in BBing could make money from a BBers gym in Pattaya, if it exceeded what Tonys has - which is a lot. I would say that for real money, the Fairtex model of sports specific training is something that should be considered as people in a sport will go their for their entire off season to train for relatively small money.
In Bangkok - the money is in the fitness gyms IMO.
