It may be annoying but it's the truth, without the UFC there really wouldn't be what you we consider MMA today... cage fighting = MMA = UFC sure there are other organizations and there were other organized events before the UFC (pancrase, bushido, etc. etc.) but the UFC was the first real organization to pull it all together, have some sort of unified rules (or lack thereof) enclose the match in a cage, etc.
